Here's the original: A few months back, I was listening to a leak of the DOOM menu music as well as the music put in the trailers. I thought it was cool, but I wanted to hear what it wound sound like if there was a stronger push for the metallic DOOM sound while embracing modernization. I basically started a song and treated it as if I was assigned the task of doing the OST - what would I come up with? While it's all over the place, you can generally treat the opening ambiance as what the menus would sound like, and the explosive rock parts as trailer music as well as combat-oriented sequences. Dunno, I'd like to write soundtracks for stuff and I thought it was fun. As I was talking about this in the DOOM thread and talking about my progress with the song, JERICHO_RUS was kind enough to paint the album cover for me. I took that painting and messed around with it in After Effects to create the accompanying video. In other words, give him a big hug. (Oh, and yes, that is my name. I'm dropping the name wauterboi from all my future music.) You can download the song for free here and donate by buying it on Bandcamp if you like. In case you're worried: I'm not going to post all of my work in this subforum, just the stuff you guys might like which will probably be very occasional.
Well, I like it a lot, but... to speed up playback 10% or not to speed up, that is the question ?
Rad track, as I've pointed out before! This is the full cover art if anyone's wondering:
the best track in all of the DOOM games, made even better. this is amazing
the best track in all of the DOOM games, made even better. this is amazing
This is indeed the best track from DOOM I because of how lonely, taunting, and futile it made the levels feel. My favorite from DOOM II is DOOM for similar reasons, although the first is better at it and the second sounds a lot more playful. This is fucking sweet. It feels too short. :(
This is fucking sweet. It feels too short. :(
I think it comes down to the amount of content to the original. It's a pretty repetitive track in structure, and I padded stuff out with my own structure and additional guitar riffs. There was a little more meat on the intro and tail end with string sections and what not, but I didn't think it matched tonally and I didn't think it added anything important to the song - it just kind of dragged it out. Dunno, I think in order to extend it I'd have to add a lot more original stuff to it and I don't really think it needs to go anywhere else. Thanks for the kind words though! Always nice to hear. :)
Legitimately really, really cool.
Absolutely loved the original track in doom, for some reason it really did make you feel alone... It really did set the mood when that track played. Well done on your take on it as well. I look forward to others posts.
Someone should make The Game of Ehmmett so I can make The Theme of Ehmmett. Alternatively: progress further in Jaykin Bacon 2 so I can make music for that.
fuckin sick remix
