What the hell went on at 4:50?
What the hell went on at 4:50?
Looks like an edgeglitch to get the player partially out of bounds (player's oob, but not the perspective), so they could shoot portals on the outside of the map. Got into an easter egg warp zone and made it later into the game. I think a lot of the glitches are explained in depth on the Portal section of the Sourceruns Wiki.
Aside from some of the dialogue and the voices, Portal: Prelude was pretty good. Not the best, but worth checking out.

I love Portal speedruns, they can get so confusing to watch.
The level design in the test chambers were always good if not spot on with aesthetics, but the glados chamber was lmao
I love how the players go so fast that the camera can't even keep up.

It even had some stages modified and included in the official Xbox Live Arcade release of Portal, if anyone else recalls. But it could definitely use some actual voice acting. Even mediocre voice acting would be better than robovoices.
If I recall it was maps from the Flash Version map pack that were included in that.
More accurately, Prelude did it's own interpretations of some of the Flash Version maps while some other modders chose their own interpretation when making TFV mappack. Valve I think chose the latter to touch up for the 360 mappack.

Also the level design really wasn't very good in later parts of the game, especially the very last part of the testing run where you have all those moving platforms. And the reskinned manhacks for no-reason whatsoever.
i've noticed that one of the announcers voice is actually a text to speech
i've noticed that one of the announcers voice is actually a text to speech
i think they both are.
They claimed it was hard and required "thinking with portals" but in reality it was just poor layout. Only one level was laid out decently and stuck out (it was that level with the gravity stuff). Also the writing and voice acting and pacing was shit in general.
If I recall it was maps from the Flash Version map pack that were included in that.
You're right, my bad. I got the two mixed up.
