there are worse places to die than the red planet. to be one of the first of humanity to not only set you foot on the surface, but to live and die there, would be an incredibly honor imo.

Yeah, and in the end, it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't care because I was dead.
It may sound selfish, but I'd rather live a long life full of experiences good and bad, rather than die and be idolized as a martyr in a world I won't be alive in to comprehend.
