The more I see, the less impressed I am. The lighting looks really uninteresting as of right now. Even as a fan of UE4 I think they could have achieved something better than that, even with Unity.
I don't think this is going to do much to breath life into the Ship, as fun as it was. Not much of a remaster.
Ship was fun, for short sessions. Though this looks that they are just releasing it again with minimum effort to get some money. It would really need something much better looking or new interesting stuff, shame that its that bland.
I really enjoy the game and respect the devs, but if constantly releasing your game for free isn't drawing players, I don't think a remastered version with updated graphics that costs $ is going to do very well. Best of luck to them.
so basically they just revised the maps? still great though, any news of it is enough for me to be happy
I mean the point is not to really do much to change the original, but rather to make it playable again because the older version of the game is non-functional. Server browser doesn't work and you have to direct connect to servers via ip, which is one of the main drawbacks of the game.
lmao whats even the point remake the game from scratch with modern graphics, add far more ships, and add far more things to do per ship it looks much better but all I see is more color and different lighting. That's not going to make a big enough leap.
Currently playing around in the alpha. Lotsa fun. Would say they need more then just colours and lighting and slightly better overall graphics for it to sell.
it looks much better but all I see is more color and different lighting. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/709089895/the-ship-full-steam-ahead I think they still have plans on trying to make that after this releases.
The more I see, the less impressed I am. The lighting looks really uninteresting as of right now. Even as a fan of UE4 I think they could have achieved something better with Unity.
It is Unity.
We need to see some actual gameplay first, these environment videos won't sell anyone on the game.
It is Unity.
I worded it wrong. I meant "something better than that, even with Unity".

Im pretty sure they'd encourage people to post on their discussion boards on steam though so if you want to provide your critiques on it i would go here. As far as new features go, it's something that they have wanted to do for a long time and they would like to do it to the remasted version, but they cant unless enough people buy it. And as for why they cant just update the original? It's because when they bought the IP for the series from it's original owners they weren't given a technical license to be able to heavily update the game, so they cant really bring in the UI and graphical overhauls this game has into that game for legal reasons. [editline]16th February 2016[/editline]
remastered more like direct port
They actually are remaking alot of the assets from the original, as seen here.
