We were talking about scary games, So I know how Selnderman was a big thing I heard they are even making some blockbuster movie. Here is some decent gameplay for a FREE TO PLAY
i can see this thread ending well
I don't know why they waste so much potential of Slenderman with "Go around collecting pages/gas/etc."
What else can they really do?
What else can they really do?
Have people try and find out the origins of Slenderman? People can try and escape him and try and lead a normal life? You can become a proxy for him? Is it really that hard to come up with a basic story?
What else can they really do?
Make it a Call of Cthulhu style mystery game with a tense atmosphere? Make it unclear whether slenderman is a serial killer, monster, or supernatural entity? Maybe put effort into their game design?
What else can they really do?
A basic story. Game design. Different ways to scare you. I don't even care if you don't find out much about it in the end, I get that Slenderman is supposed to be some entity of cosmic horror proportions, but that doesn't excuse 0 game design and 0 narrative. Walking around waiting for Slenderman to pop up behind you while looking for arbitrary stuff gets old fast. See something like Penumbra, Call of Cthulu, Amnesia, etc.
would be pretty neat if there was a game with him where you pretty much live your everyday life (obviously sped up to a degree), while he's stalking you.
Thanks to lowtaxico, I don't find Slenderman even remotely spooky anymore. Same goes for SCP.
We were talking about scary games

SCARY GAMES

SCARY
lol yeah ok
What else can they really do?
"It's just an AI, what could we really do?" Bam, System Shock 2, the scariest game to ever exist.
system shock 2 needs a remake V-V-V-V so you are saying it it fine the way it is ok maybe 8 years ago...
system shock 2 needs a remake
What are you implying? That System shock was a overall shit game or what?
What are you implying? That System shock was a overall shit game or what?
No way man, its a great game. Just needs a HD remake like they did to half life 1...
What else can they really do?
lmao this is exactly why the Slender games stop short. Because there was nothing fun about it and nothing they could have improved.
Slenderman as a mythos is located within the Weird Fiction genre. As such, explanations unless you go into support scientific detail are to NEVER happen. Also, there is only one moment usually within the weird, not many moments. That's what people and designers miss. You don't need it to be weird the whole time, just a single well designed moment. [editline]11th November 2013[/editline] Also, the weird is not the same as scary. The weird is chilling, pausing and confusing until you think about it.
Slender man originally just kidnapped children, he made the child obsessed with him and then made them disappear when it was too late for the parents to notice something was up. Marblehornets just changed him into a spooky tall man that follows you around. So maybe a game where you go around as a private detective trying to find those missing children might be better? And maybe keep the slenderman encounter as a climax or something?

In both those shows the focus is on how the people have been affected by the evil. Even in literature H.P. Lovecraft coined the term "Innsmouth Look" to describe how the unknown evil have physically affected the townspeople.
Thanks to lowtaxico, I don't find Slenderman even remotely spooky anymore. Same goes for SCP.
play them high.
Thanks to lowtaxico, I don't find Slenderman even remotely spooky anymore. Although there's almost 2000 SCPs at this point so there's clearly more potential to be had with games than there is with Slenderman.

jesus smosh is still a thing?
they STILL, making slenderman games?
system shock 2 needs a remake V-V-V-V so you are saying it it fine the way it is ok maybe 8 years ago...
Why the fuck are you whining about graphics when you praise slender man games for somehow looking x1000 times worse ON AN MODERN ENGINE?
A marble hornets game would work better than running around collecting kindergarten drawings.
A marble hornets game would work better than running around collecting kindergarten drawings.
They worked on the recent update to the original Slender the 8 pages. Unfortunately the game designers were shit so the story suffered for it.
