High speed synth music and ultra violence go well together.
God Titanfall 2 is such an incredible game. My heart goes out to Titanfall 3 ;~;
God Titanfall 2 is such an incredible game. Afterall they did fund TF1 so it remains to see what happens. Thank god though we're still keeping Titanfall 2 alive too. Also seeing executions in a multiplayer game like this makes me giddy. People boasted that such a mechanic would be too much, but look where we are now. I can watch Vanguard's and Legion's executions all day.
titanfall 2 had such a phenomenally good campaign. if you ever see it on offer it's worth it just for that
holy shit I didn't realize Titanfall was this brutal kinda thinking about picking it up now, do you need to play the first to understand the 2nd? is the first even worth playing?
So is Titanfall 2 worth picking up if you're only interested in its single player?

The intro basically gives you what you need to know about the universe and the one antagonist from Titanfall 1 is fleshed out here. You're not missing much if you're skipping TF1. The campaign in TF2 is bonkers and full of "holy shit" moments along with some decent characters that would have been boring in other FPS games but work really well here. BT is best boi. TF1's campaign was okay but apparently the missions were very cookie-cutter and very obvious that this was to train you for the multiplayer. On top of that I think TF1's multiplayer was dead in almost a year after launch.
It's funny someone finally made a mashup of Roller Mobster and TF|2 gameplay, since back during the initial post-launch player flood on PC for Titanfall 2 I'd blast Roller Mobster and other Brut tracks while bombing the shit outta people with my Cold War on Drydock. Good times, good times...
So is Titanfall 2 worth picking up if you're only interested in its single player?
Haven't played the second game yet but Titanfall 1's campaign was a complete joke so I'd be surprised. It wasn't so much a campaign as it was about 6 or so multiplayer matches with an audiobook playing in the background, which was completely generic and uninteresting even if you could afford the time to pay attention to it while being shot at by actual players. The sequel seems to be much, much better in this regard. [editline]28th January 2018[/editline] There's actual singleplayer, for one thing
So is Titanfall 2 worth picking up if you're only interested in its single player?
Well the multiplayer is where the game really shines, but the singleplayer is on par with it.
It's been on sale on Origin for $10 USD these past few days, no idea how long it'll be up for that but it's definitely worth it imo.

It's pretty standalone, the only things that might leave you a bit wanting are maybe some explanations on minor details about the factions and that. But the intro cutscene and general world explains almost everything you actually care about. That and the campaign does something new each level, it's not just corridor shooting -> titan bit -> corridor bit -> titan bit. There's a fair bit of flexibility when BT is around and the bits without him are solid.
Titan Fall 2's singleplayer is great. Even if you're not sucked into the story, there's a lot of really cool mechanics thrown in and the characters are fun to be around. Damn good fun from a team you can tell cared intimately about what they were making.

The campaign will teach you the controls but it won't prepare you for the MP. You're going to spend several hours getting stomped by experienced players before you start doing well. You have to always be moving and have unpredictable movement to survive. But once you get good at it it becomes so much fun. There's an extremely high skill ceiling and a shitload of different playstyles to keep the game fresh.
The campaign doesn't sound too long (bummer) but honestly, the lack of a season pass sounds worth it for when/if I want to dive into the multiplayer
The only paid content is entirely cosmetic stuff that just pimps your titan or pilot a bit. And some slightly more expensive alternate models for the titans and a handful of "elite" weapon skins. The actual meat of the MP content has been entirely free so far. And since the big menu overhaul a while back they've been running playlists with modified game rules on the regular to trial new modes and see what happens when balance is thrown out the window. It's really quite fun. And real talk, if you're not using the grapple hook are you really playing this game correctly? Nothing quite like swinging around a building at mach 10 just to punch some dickhead in the face.
Doing Attack on Titan level shit with the Grappling Hook and shotgun is in itself worth the full price of this game.
I love TF|2 but it suffers from some things, some of the weapons in MP are just stupidly broke. The hit detection when trying to climb a titan is drunk man on a tightrope at best followed by the melee detection which is rolling a 1d6 weighted for the 1.
Those executions look so satisfying. I played the Beta of Titanfall 1 a long time ago but never got a chance to buy or play Titanfall 1 or 2.
