Are they high during this? they seem like.
Maybe that's the point thou.

I dunno, Max Landis is usually an alright guy and he has proven that he knows how to write (See: The Death and Return of Superman, Wrestling Isn't Wrestling, and Chronicle) I think the script just got passed to a shitty director who probably made some changes and it turned out poorly as a result. Unfortunately, this will probably mean public ridicule for him for a while.

No blaming the audience in a hissy fit on twitter will mean public ridicule for him for a while.
Jay & Mike never fail to deliver
two of those are comedy sketches, only one is a movie, not exactly proof that he knows how to write for big productions
but those comments are immature either way, would be the same thing if it was any other competent filmmaker saying it. maybe this would've been a decent movie was it not for poor marketing, directorial/casting choices, changes during production etc, but who cares it still doesn't justify blaming the audience

C I Gay and Half-Assed Badass, the new generation of buddy cop film
That Max guy is actually posting on Reddit and he isn't doing a great job defending some of his twitter remarks.
Film criticism as a whole kind of becomes a joke whenever you see the process of what actually makes a movie; ie, when a reviewer mentions the film's "script," good or bad, anyone who's been in production knows that it's a strawman. Really you just have to pick reviewers whose taste aligns with your own, or whose writing entertains you.
These guys entertain the living shit out of me.
There always seems to be a lot of anger and negativity when I speak out about the film industry, and people even seemed angry about me not particularly caring about this review (I often disagree with Jay and Mike's opinions on films), I wouldn't have even popped in here, but someone tagged me.
So, hi guys! Please go check out American Ultra, in theaters now, if you haven't seen it.
ugh

How is anything of this movie an original idea?
Jay & Mike never fail to deliver
Who the fuck is Jay? You mean Susan?
they should invite them for a best of the worst episode,
he can bring the salt
and they can provide the margarita
How is anything of this movie an original idea?
he says it's an 'original' idea in the sense that it's not a reboot or a sequel
still, the whole thing is such a terrible excuse
its completely subjective which means you can't call my film bad, says screenwriter whose movie just bombed
I really want to like Max Landis because he sometimes makes good points and he's good at pitching stories but he's way too full of himself and a lot of his concepts for movies are overblown as fuck, he doesn't know when to stop.
Really loved "wrestling isn't wrestling", but Max seems like a bit of a twat.

lmao. 'once you see what goes into making a movie first hand, all aspects of it become so subjective, you cannot possibly say they are bad! like my script for example.'
