Well, better than I was expecting, but it looks like any other generic CalArts single-line-width cartoon now.
How hardcore do you have to be to get thrown like several miles and still be all, "You throw like a girl!" as you fly through the air?

That is the characteristic of his character it seems like.
Yeah it... it looks like every other Cartoon Network cartoon these days.
Does Cartoon Network only have one animation studio that only knows how to animate in one style?
Just not feeling Buttercup's voice. If Bubble's voice isn't anywhere near her original, I probably won't bother with this show.
Oh boy I cannot wait for the inevitable Steven Universe crossover.

All three VAs were not asked back to voice their reboot counterpart. I wouldn't expect it if you ask me.

haven't all the SU crossovers been jokes related to how the other shows are toying with parallel universes or something
I wouldn't mind if this replaces Teen Titans GO as CNs cash cow. Would rather see powerpuff girls shown all day.
Maybe they will bring back the original to the schedule to show "where it all began".
It looks like they took the original Powerpuff girls and threw them into the artstyle of Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, the stylistic difference between Buttercup and the Lumberjack dude was almost jarring.
I want to like it, but I know I won't.
Danse pantsed looked so much better. Yeah, it was in 3d and was ~new~, but we like classic style, eh?
Now you get classic style that looks like someone did poor job at replicating it
Holy fuck this looks like shit.
The artstyle does not fit at all.
Plus the VA isn't that good, I still prefer the original VAs.

Apparently a guy who worked on Adventure time is the Executive Producer of this show.
Nick Jennings I think.
Fucking disgusting, straight up looks like Steven's Universe / Adventure Time / uncle grandpa/ we bare bears / everything on Cartoon Network.
I'm curious to see if they'll have HIM, since I feel like people will be crying that he's offensive.
Or they'll just heavily edit him to a shadow of his former self.
I mean the powerpuff girls and the background art are fine, they are pretty good and look like the original.
But the other character designs do not fit at all.

This is how I think the art direction came to be.
CN: "Well shows like Adventure Time, Regular Show and Steven Universe are very popular."
PPG: "I wonder why that is....we need something to get them to watch our show, if we can just figure it out....."
CN: "OH, THE ART STYLE, THAT IS OBVIOUSLY WHY PEOPLE WATCH THESE SHOWS, BECAUSE OF THE ART STYLE. Look at Gravity Falls, that show isn't ours but the art style is the same as the rest of our shows, that could explain why it has such a following"
PPG: "Genius, it's the art, we will certainly have their audience now"
I have high hopes they don't fuck it up. Because i fucking loved the original series. I found it "okay" for a preview. but the voice acting sounds "off" maybe i'm too used to the old VA'S
Also CN, you need to promote different artstyles.
I think it's more of a fear of change then anything. They know what their popular shows are and don't want to steer away from the artstyle for fear people won't give it a chance.
Or they don't want to waste money on hiring other artists for animating so they stick with the same people that make their other shows.

I wish they would change the art style now and then, I would be interested in seeing other cartoon shows with different art styles.
Cartoons artstyles are limitless, you can make them look however you want, the possibilities are endless. As long as it's still easy to see what is going on and doesn't case seizures, make it.
Stranger still, Tom Kenny is coming back as the Mayor (and probably the voiceover), Mojo Jojo's VA is coming back, as is Ms. Keane's. I mean, I don't think Cavadaini and Daily have really been doing much and Tara Strong is just down the hall doing VA for Teen Titans.

i....liked it?
i know they got new voice actors and stuff but the small fighting scene felt awkard and with the slow mow punches they they try to do it and doesnt feel right, the bg should be moving more or something.
Motercity was animated in flash and sadly it did not get picked up why cant they do that for the PPGs?
idk im just judging based off this clip

Wow, when you strip back everything that defines their style from those specific characters, ignore any kind of animation or scenery and only compare a single expression they look like they have the same artstyle!

Yeah Gumball's artsyle is as different from the other CN shows as you can possibly get.
It's more of a statement that they don't want to go to far away from the popular artstyle.
To be fair I don't count Gumball because only him and the family are animated like that. The rest of the show has a very unique artstye.

The only similarity is that some of the characters have kidney beans for heads and they have consistent line thickness.

The artstyle used in Gumball is a perfect blend between a whole bunch of artstyles.
You have 3D characters, Puppets, paper, different styles of drawings (For example in one episode they did a parody of Anime so it's not always the same).
They blend 2D and 3D characters and objects together and it works fantastically.
It could be good, but I'm doubtful. The Lumberjack is clearly Maurice LaMarche so here's to him at least.
It looks better than I expected when the reboot was announced, but that's not saying much since my expectations were close to nill
