MAking $158 million at the box office in a $144 million budget is a flop financially (also known as a bomb). You have to keep in mind that box office numbers don't take the cinema's cut into account, nor does the figure account for the marketing budget.

Note that it mentions its budget was 32 million, the hollywood accounting comes after, when they try to reduce the amount of taxes they have to pay.

Hard to know for sure but if the 500 million figure that Paul Feig has thrown is reliable I suspect the loss will be higher than 70 million. We'll have to wait on the financial statements to see though.
