This is 100% late. [editline]25th March 2012[/editline] But still 100% badass.
People still think the Milwaukee Art Museum is a fictional building from this
Jesus. That must have taken a few... years to render.
Almost looks real. some spots it easy to tell, some of the shadows are grainy on the edges.
If this is what one guy can do, I want to see what a whole team of equally talented people can do. Photorealistic movie that is absolutely beautiful, probably.
CGI is getting really amazing these days
I can't wait for the day when this call all be done in realtime
CGI is getting really amazing these days
What ever happened to this? Was the trailer actually just the whole thing and they never planned on making a full short film?

Absolutely beautiful. I wonder if Unreal 4 will come close to these kind of visuals? the way Epic are going on about it one would think so.
Things like this remind me that technology is a beautiful thing. It allows us to expand the use of our vast imaginations in order to express more than any other painting, photo, movie before computers could. Although it is more oftentimes used for thrills and effects than something abstract and wonderful.
I wonder if we'll ever play games rendered in CGI, or is that impossible? In like 20 years or so, when we make advancements in hardware and supercomputers become household things I meant running scenes that look pre-rendered in real time like Da Big Man said. I forgot that CGI was an acronym for computer generated imagery and used as a general blanket term. lol
I wonder if we'll ever play games rendered in CGI, or is that impossible? In like 20 years or so, when we make advancements in hardware and supercomputers become household things
Uhh games are already CGI
Uhh games are already CGI
I'm pretty sure he/she means running pre-rendered scenes in real-time.
That is 100% gorgeous. I'd want a polycount one some of these models.
I wonder if it's at least possible to render one of these models in realtime with some decent lighting, like one of those cameras. A fancy 10 million poly model + 16k texture map would be doable by today's gpus and still be very impressive.
I imagine the visuals would be that good, but I don't think animation and gameplay will ever become that dynamic. Well, it might, but that won't be for a very long time.
I'm pretty sure he/she means running pre-rendered scenes in real-time.
holy shit what
I imagine the visuals would be that good, but I don't think animation and gameplay will ever become that dynamic. Well, it might, but that won't be for a very long time.
Procedural animation, it's possible.
I imagine the visuals would be that good, but I don't think animation and gameplay will ever become that dynamic. Well, it might, but that won't be for a very long time.
Every single person that has ever said something like this, has been proven wrong and their statements have come true, sooner or later. I think it's really safe to say the same with this.
I'm pretty sure he/she means running pre-rendered scenes in real-time.
that makes no sense :v:
I imagine the visuals would be that good, but I don't think animation and gameplay will ever become that dynamic. Well, it might, but that won't be for a very long time.
http://facepunch.com/threads/908557 Gameplay's there already, all we really need is the animation oh wait there's overgrowth and that tech DICE used in BF3, if you've seen the NPCs move about in SP you know what I'm talking about. [editline]27th March 2012[/editline] GUESS ALL WE REALLY NEED IS FOR SOMEONE TO SLAP IT TOGETHER.
That is 100% gorgeous. I'd want a polycount one some of these models.
Googoloplex. Does that help? :v:
-snip, wasn't actually cgi :v:-
