People do react differently to medications, I've taken 7 or 8 kinds of antidepressants and have had no noticeable effect from any of them. Except constipation, they all do that.
Depression is pretty much always there, but if you can find some joy in your life somewhere then it can be bearable.

Honestly, anti depressants aren't very effective. They're worth a try, but in general most antidepressants aren't that much more effective than placebos. Treatment of depression in general isn't that effective because in many cases the treatment is focused on the symptoms of depression and often mistakes the symptoms as causes, such as addiction, which leads to the underlying issues being looked over. Depression is a way for the mind to deal with stressful traumas and emotions, it isn't a disease.

Anti depressants are made to be uppers, that's why. Some companies have been changing up their happy pills to deal with certain types of mood swings more directly rather than just give some one a bit of energy. It's meant to be a safety net while you get real treatment via therapy, or what ever said mentally ill person needs. One part of trying to fight depression people forget is there is also a obstacle trying to find the right help. You need to find a therapist who you're comfortable with, and the right doctors who are willing to agree to prescribe you what you need, and all that can take time. It's a lot of hoops and hurdles, but boy when you finally find the right people for you it does make an impact.
Mumkey's reviews are always on point. I've never heard of this "Suicide" anime before, but I think I'll have a look at it.

Agreed, but at the end of the day the only way a person is getting out of depression is by finding a way to deal with underlying issues to create an enviroment where said person gets through their everyday in life in a positive manner.

I studied depression in high school for Psychology, and the biggest issue is that people don't understand how treating depression goes.
Anti-depressants are given for short-term relief and aren't intended to be a cure in the slightest. Often "treatments" include anti-depressants and therapy to help the patients. As you said, anti-depressants focus on treating the symptoms but not on what actually causes depression itself.
