expected maxofstd 0/10
I couldn't agree more, that game completely blew me away.

You really can't talk about how narrative is as important as gameplay than name something like that as GOTY. It wasn't a remotely intriguing story and it falls prey to that dumb scenario where the gameplay, characters and general narrative are excessively silly and wacky but they still try to push some emotional, realistic message as if it's actually going to be impactful when it's really, really not. True MGS had its share of weird/funny moments but it was overall a very serious tone with some highly engaging characters and plots that maintained their seriousness throughout. This just goes beyond any decent cohesive nature and loses its self.

Besides, he said that, while he could see why a game's story and narrative would make something GOTY material for some people, it was not his case. Again, your post makes me think you simply skipped parts of the video.

You need to factor everything in when considering something to be worthy of GOTY. I didn't skip any of it I'm just wondering why he would go on about how important all these elements are for a game to constitute as actually good then evidently ignore some elements for the sake of replayability.
