Yeah this is happening about ten miles from me. Honestly though Baltimore has always kinda been like this, though this is just about as bad as the 1968 race riots. I really think we're heading back in that direction.

I believe it was the case where he was running, cops captured him performing a maneuver that may caused a spinal injury that later led to his death. There is speculation that the spinal injury was caused while he was in detainment and on the way to the hospital/jail, I think it was the former.

it's a tad iffy IMO to be using collective pronouns like that man. these guys don't speak or represent the black american community.
yes there is a high amount of crime among black americans but any research into the subject will show that poverty and systemic oppression is the major cause - not race which is why it's such a horrible thing to stereotype people by.
i know you're not tryna be bigoted or anything but it just seems a bit silly to be putting the burden of fueling the stereotypes of all black american people onto a group of bad kids who happen to be black americans.
these kids are obviously not involved in the protests for political reasons. they are just dumb kids being dumb kids and i hope people won't be using these dumb kids as a reason to ignore the actual politics and social movement happening.
and also when a group feels that the law is not just failing them but is actively against them then it's really no surprise that they wont abide by the law. it's happened time and time again in history.

from what i understand there are lots of different outreach programmes run in the black american communities to help the urban youth steer clear from gangs and violence but it's a battle fought on both sides with the protection and kinship of gangs also attracting the young and poor.

Not saying they're representing anything. But people tend to look for the bad before the good, and if they see this kind of media coverage, well that's what they will associate.
