if you love anime and video games, i recommend you play no mans sky because both belong in the trash
From that list, Re:Zero, Fate, Log Horizon (1st season) and SAO (first arc, ~13 eps) are decent choices that don't abuse most tropes that give anime a bad name (e.g. excessive fan-service) but only the last two are directly gaming-related, there are better starting animes in any case.
Spirited Away is an amazing movie that shows what anime can do. If you want a TV series you have Cowboy Bebop and more recently you can try ERASED.
Facepunch has an hate boner for anime because it's fashionable to hate on it, anime is an art medium, you can do amazing things with it or you can do shitty things. No one evaluates movies as whole by taking a look at transformers or games by taking a look at bad rats.
Just go watch Cowboy Bebop, DBZ, or anything from the 90s or early 2000s.
The thumbnail alone makes me scared to watch.
I saw that thumbnail and decided not to watch the video, they cant recommend that shit

Hahaha dude! I know, right? Anime is trash, I never get tired of reading it on every page of LMAO pics every time anime is mentioned.

Thank you.
Ive heard good things about Log Horizon but lots and lots of bad things about SAO especially in terms of how women are treated in that show. Persona 4 the animation is pretty great in my opinion as a personal recommendation - if a bit cheesy.

Log horizon got so far up its own butt with jerking off over it's main character.
Oh look at this really interesting character that you want to know more about. NO, look at our MC, he's the best! [Adjusts glasses]

Sword Art Online does that more than Log Horizon, excessively so. Between the two series, if someone has to watch that sort of thing then most recommend Log Horizon for less melodrama and harem hijinks, and more of a character-driven romp. Season 2 of LH's anime adaptation was pretty bad though.

The first arc of SAO is decent enough, it has some pacing issues but it's entertaining, it's worth a try at least. The remaining arcs definitely have writing issues and typically aren't well received.
nothing was more disappointing than watching SAO the first time and seeing it quickly devolve into a shitty romance story after all the cool videogame stuff

Hating anime is half the fun of being into anime though.

I'd recommend just watching ixion saga DT for the stuck-in-game category.
Has team rocket-esc villains who are likeable and good funny moments.
Mumkey is the only one who.can recommend anime.

Facepunch constantly cracks jokes about anime because it's funny to berate something as a running joke. Nobody thinks "Anime belongs in the trash" is a legitimate, thoughtful criticism. Don't take things so seriously.
It's pretty sad how Anime turn a lot of people into pedophiles and faggots to be honest.
Here's a perfect example what Anime has done to Japanese men:

Sword Art Online is on that list?
I think I hear any credibility this video had going down the drain. But hey, at least Blazblue Alter Memory isn't on here.

you'd be surprised at the amount of people that seriously think that on here
Not all Japanese men are like that though
Just like not all Canadians are nice people, or not all Americans are fatasses
First half of SAO season 1 was amazing in my opinion. I loved the story, the characters, and the setting. The second half of season 1 can go die in a fire though. Could have done without that disturbing as fuck subplot.
Also the mother's rosario arc of season 2 was fucking fantastic. I legitimately cried at the ending. Basically the show has lots of ups and downs. The good moments are great but the bad ones suck horribly.
Idk, maybe I'm just really easy to please.

The first arc also has abysmal writing issues, including repeatedly trying to tug our heart strings over the death of a character with 5 minutes of screen time and a resolution that is entirely pulled out of its fucking ass but everybody always seems to ignore that for some reason.
you'd be surprised at the amount of people that seriously think that on here
it's one of those things where you think it's just a joke and then you realize there's a metric fuckton of people that actually believe it
like the PC master race joke that's now become a trend in and of itself for people to recount as a serious viewpoint and simultaneously a meme without irony's sake
Konosuba, Umaru-chan, Log Horizon and (from what I've heard) Re:Zero and Fate Stay Night are all worth a watch. The other 3 are low tier garbage.
Overlord is boring and nothing happens. It does jack shit with it's premise too.
Sword Art Online is a show people say 'got bad' as the series went on. They're wrong. SAO was garbage from the beginning and devolved the longer it went on.
Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon is bad on 2 counts. 1) It's very generic and it does the bare minimum to not be a completely by the numbers harem show. 2) It has nothing to do with picking up girls in a dungeon, he tries to flirt with one girl but that only happens outside of the dungeon. And I liked this one.

So you say, but I've seen many people legitimately hate anime, I truly don't think many do it because it's "funny".
For decades gamers and gaming were also seen as a very nerdy hobby where nothing good came out of it. That type of attitude certainly doesn't help the medium grow.

pretty sure the left was for only the Japanese nobles rEst where just the fucking farmer
i used to hate anime too
then i watched a good anime
then i learned that no single creative work is a representative of its medium as a whole.
i was 11
People take the "anime is 100% garbage" seriously?
I mean, I would join in on it because I thought it was just self-deprecating humor on the part of fans.
