isn't destiny just a less fun borderlands with good lore?

No, the lore is just not in the game. It's listed in the companion phone app and the website. Where no one who doesn't obsess over lore will check.
It's hardly lore though. it's just a bunch of vague nonsense that makes the game seem like it has more going on when it doesn't. And that's ignoring the fact that putting your lore in a fucking companion app or on a separate website is inexcusable horseshit.
That's like watching a movie and having to have an encyclopedia to hand to explain why everything is happening.... I can imagine it would take you out of it... Halo managed to pull of the in-game lore so well, why can't they do it again?
isn't destiny just a less fun borderlands with good lore?
There's lore in this game?! I remember playing, and the big ol' teacher wise guy said "I could tell you this, I could tell you that, but I won't" And then the chick mid-way was finally going to lay some story on me, but instead she said "I don't have time to tell you why I don't have time" So... There's lore? Destiny fell so flat for me. It's basically Open-Worldish Halo with new paint, and far less story and lore. Practically fucking zero unless you go googling

Halo managed to pull of the in-game lore so well, why can't they do it again?
It's annoying because looking at the "lore" you can sort of craft this idea of how grand the story could have been in your mind, but it's all sidelined because the writers and the game designers couldn't agree on what game they were making. So it all ends up this odd mess that comes off as pretentious and grandiose because it feels like they're teasing stories to us that never get a chance to be properly fleshed out. Halo worked because the story and the game were one and the same. Here, probably because Destiny is primarily a multiplayer experience, I get the feeling they just didn't know how to make the story work in this type of game environment, so we got what everyone knows today. It's also frustrating because we've even seen games developed before Destiny's time that can eloquently combine such features in a way where nobody feels either gets in the way of each other. SWTOR is a great example of this.
that is one anime looking lady
but it's not done yet... [editline]14th April 2015[/editline] it's like reading one chapter into a book and saying "there's barely any story and no lore"
Why isn't it reported anywhere that this dlc pack wont have a raid? The raids are the only selling point Destiny has besides it's gameplay [editline]14th April 2015[/editline]
but it's not done yet... [editline]14th April 2015[/editline] it's like reading one chapter into a book and saying "there's barely any story and no lore"
It's stll dumb that the first game in the series which is supposed to sport this grand new world with it's history doesn't tell us anything of it's past and on top of that has barely any story or interesting events in it even though it was marketed as such
Apparently all of the lore is on the Bungie website, which is pretty damn dumb if you ask me. It would be a hell of a lot easier to include a lore menu within the game. Hell, a bunch of RPG games have it.
as someone with 400+ hours in the game, it feels like a skeleton of a game especially considering the enormous budget, all the stuff they showcased that isnt in the game, and the obvious features that should be included but arent it feels like it was developed by a tiny studio except bungie has an absolutely shitty method of communicating with their community
I'm glad that I bought the ghost edition of this game. I keep it n the corner of my room not to remind me of the disappointment, but moreso as a reminder to never buy into hype and buy a game day one ever again
