Damn I'm surprised that scar on his face was all CGI and not latex and shit
Best CGI in the world?
Videos like these never cease to amaze me.

Definitely not. Oftentimes it was pretty obvious looking.
A lot of times it was the shadows that gave it away. Especially in the first shot with the ships. the shadows looked really unnatural.
Also, on the armoury picture, the texture resolution on the sign's text is a lot worse than the rest of the building for some reason.
oh wow, there were a few of those landscape shots that I had wondered how they pulled it off. everything is CGI these days.
and there were actually only two actors in the movie.
kinda makes me sad if i'm honest how much is cgi. not that i discount it as an artform or anything but i still miss "makings of" where i was astounded by miniture sets, perfectly timed pyrotechnics and matte painting

I disagree. It's not like CGI stuff just appears out of thin air, it's a lot of work as well. The difference is this was done by an artist and miniature sets, pyrotechnics and matte paintings were made by large teams of professionals.
Shit like this still astounds me; I have no clue what's real and what's fake anymore.
Alot of this wouldn't be too difficult if you had the resources. The main issue with this sort of thing is like proper motion tracking and getting lighting right and such. That's what really gives it away.

you make it sound as if you boot up 3DS max and can make a high-poly ship model come out of your ass like it's the easiest thing
