next up: robot builds ramp by waiting for natural erosion
That seems like THE most inefficient way to get up something Pretty cool, though
If you think this is stupid read up on calculating PI with the Monte Carlo method.
I can totally see the daily life applications of this thing... [/sarcasm]
Is this all autonomous?
Is this all autonomous?
I can't say for sure but it looks like it.
Definitely better than Darpa's attempt at getting up vertical barriers.

That's not a ramp, that's a pile
Looking at it, there is some pretty complex behavior going on. If its autonomous I would be impressed. Measuring and reacting to objects that are irregular like that is hard for robots. It makes more sense that it is manually controlled or partially autonomous.
Toothpick bot is absolutely adorable, while darpa's flea looks like he's having the time of his life.
Imagine that second robot going up a flight of stairs, just a massive trail of globbed up caulk all the way up and a little robot at the top slowly excreting all over the top step.
Okay that DARPA robot vid stole the spotlight of this thread for me at least. In all seriousness, I found that toothpick stacking and foam splattering to be quite inefficient and stupid actually.
Actually this is quite interesting. The second half shows it building a ramp out of foam, which looks a lot more efficient.
