No excuses.
He's three years old?
Wow, smart kid.
Well, it certainly isn't complicated, but that was never a problem anyway.
I must admit, even though I don't like the new UI, that it's quite easy to use and well done. I just prefer the feel of windows 7.
Isn't this a good thing?
Isn't this a good thing?
What gave you the impression that I thought otherwise?
I was saying no excuses to anyone that thinks metro is bad, not the OS.
That was adorable!
That was adorable.
Can you change the theme/UI in Windows 8? That looks like it was made for a touch screen.

No, not vanilla at least. But why would Microsoft do that if they're trying to push forward a new GUI?
If you don't like it then tough, you're going have to modify it yourself eventually.

Well I don't see why they have to force us to use it. Atleast give some options.
I haven't tried Windows 8 yet myself, so I'm just judging from all the footage I've seen. It may not be that bad when I get to actually try it.

Long story short, if they added the old interface as an option nobody would use metro. People instantly go for what they are used to, even if it the newer option is more efficient.
And also, the interface is fantastic on my laptop and on a touchscreen. It even works flawlessly with my Graphics tablets.
It's not disliked because it's overlycomplicated, it's just that any power users have to navigate through bullshit to just change windows etc.

Change windows?
alt+tab
I don't want to even consider you as a power user if you don't know how to do that. People are scared to use their keyboards for anything that isn't typing words, seriously.

The swiftness of the startup will make the little UI quirks seem really not that bad.
"I opened it."
"Nicely done."

Yessss my son, keep gooooing....
I have seen this "I'm a poweruser I caunt use deis Operatin system!" excuse so many times, and I still don't get what is a "power user" and why they can't use faster OSes.
Is a power user someone who has uTorrent, Photoshop, and Excel open all at the same time a Power user? :v:
Pssh my 2 year old brother can use the Kinect.
But still thats fucking adorable.

You rang?
Windows: babby edition 2012
Looks pretty damn good actually, and that's coming from someone who considers themselves a "power user", if I understand the definition right. People just like to complain about change.
"I'm three!"
D'AAAAAAAAAAW
Is the guy speaking the computer guru version of Bob Ross?
He does have a lovely voice.
The guy, not the kid

Well the kid has a lovely voice too.
The new UI looks nice, but I'm just scared of what it'll be like when it gets freezy. We all know that Windows gets freezy, and this is such a graphic-intensive interface that I'm scared it'll be really annoying when things stop responding and you need to do some manual stuff.
Windows 7 is the nice old Wizard who you can talk to and get what you want from, even though it may take a while.
Windows 8 looks like a showy green mechanical face that tells you exactly what to do.
This is just my impression of it. I've never used Windows 8 and I don't dislike it, I just feel like it's going to take some getting used to, since I'm the kind of guy who likes to pay attention to that man behind the curtain.

if it gets 'freezy', you either have an old pc or it's filled with shit.
i've been running windows 8 for months now, and it's all fine.
if you have an old pc, that gets 'freezy' even on 7, don't bother with 8.
if you fill your pc with shit, stop doing that - don't go around installing everything you see.
When I was 2, I learned how to throw away things on a Macintosh.
My mom didn't appreciate that. She taught me how to create new files so I could throw those away instead.
I had some weird fascination with the trash bin back then I guess.
I don't think Windows 8 is not user-friendly, I just think it'll cut into the efficiency of my user experience, especially for applications that force the new UI. I'm afraid that many application developers will bandwagon to it and restrict my ability to multitask efficiently.
The "a three year old can use it" argument is pretty much invalid. We saw a while ago in another thread that a 5-year old can run a mountain bike course. I can't. Does that mean it's easy? Hell no! The only thing it proves is that a child can be taught to do it. It's the same situation here. This is just another example of Human adaptation. You can't blame people for getting upset when something that works perfectly fine is being messed with in such a way that they have to go through the inconvenience of learning a new system.
What gave you the impression that I thought otherwise?

Metro isn't bad
The lack of integration of Metro with the classic desktop is what makes it a terrible experience for use in desktop PCs.
There is no need for two completely seperate desktop environments to run within one OS like this. Metro is fine for touchscreen PCs and tablets, and the classic desktop is fine for laptops and typical desktop PCs.
Why should we be forced to use both environments?
