think those first 2 quality of life updates are just what this game needed. haven't played it yet, but they're the two features i heard people most wanted (or needed i should say, since not having a checkpoint system seems a bit ridiculous).
Still also waiting for Snow and Athletic level themes. Once we get that and slopes I think people will be statisifed for the most part in the design department
the second one was not highly requested but it was something some people did ask for, the real other thing everyone wanted besides checkpoints was slopes, those still aren't in yet. I wonder if slopes won't be added (or still aren't added and will be in the next or a future update) because Super Mario Bros 1 didn't have them, nor did it have any logic for how sliding down them would work so that needs to be invented. The way Super Mario Maker works, for those who are unaware, is that each game has an immediately transferable object for every single thing you could place even if that original game did not have something for it, so for example, Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3 have the Goomba's Shoe (even though SMB1 didn't have Goomba's Shoe, new sprites were made for it and it acts like it does in SMB3), while Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros have Yoshi, and each object takes the spot of each if you change the gameplay type for your level. No object just outright disappears if you change the game type for your level because it does not exist in that original game. They opted to make new objects where they did not exist instead. It doesn't really justify the absence of slopes but it's a better explanation than nothing at all.
Well...if that was the case, we wouldn't have Airship levels, but they made airship sprites for SMB1.
Aaaaaaand I'm picking this game back up. Well done for listening to fans Nintendo.
