[B]What is Alantutorial?

[/B][URL="http://www.youtube.com/user/alantutorial"]Alantutorial[/URL] is an ongoing ARG by [URL="http://alanresnick.info/"]Alan Resnick[/URL], an artist who does very strange art and digital art things.

Alantutorial is about a man named Alan who loves tutorials and wants to show you how to do things in life with ease and simplicity.

This looks stupid, what is this supposed to be?

[/B]Well the thing is we don't really know. It could be comedy, it could be horror, or it could genuinely be the ramblings and the eventual decadence into insanity and feralness of a man named Alan.

Alantutorial as an ARG has an ongoing and mysterious plot. There's more than meets the eye to this. Alan seems to be in some sort of trouble. Things get creepy a bunch of videos in and eventually devolve into genuine horror. At many times its comical but there lies within a sort of darkness beneath the surface. Who is Alan? Why does he want to post tutorials? And why are they so great at helping us with everyday tasks?

So what do we know?
[/B]The following will be spoiler tagged for those who want to discover the genius of Alantutorial on their own.

[sp] Alantutorial starts with tutorials of random subjects, anything that really comes to Alan's mind. They are all really bad and usually don't work or have completely inane logic. But eventually we notice strange things. Alan gets interrupted by weird knocking. Alan gets locked in a dark room, which he escapes from. Then Alan gets locked out of his house somehow. Alan then posts videos of him being lost and him doing tutorials about how to survive. Alan eventually seemingly kills someone in his confusion being lost, as evidenced by the bloody brick and the bag he carries around as well as the blood on his body and hands. Alan then posts How To Change. A tutorial at night that he says works best when the full moon is out. Then it goes silent as he burns and hacks away at a large wooden object. Alan goes silent for a couple months then he returns being in an almost feral state, completely lost in the woods. Alan has grown long fingernails and is covered in dirt and blood(And possibly hair if you believe how to change symbolizes werewolves). Alan then removes his clothes while "weatherizing" a hole. Then he is captured by something. There are strange things written on the walls of the transport vehicle he is in. "The beatings will continue if morale does not improve". Then Alan is in some sort of white room with a locked door. This is not like a prison but more of a holding cell of sorts. It also looks like a mental institution. Alan seems to be given a blanket to sleep on and a jug to pee in. There is a table. Usually with things "they" give to Alan, such as the printout of the New York Times website. Alan then changes his channel to a news channel, he gives up on tutorials calling them stupid things for babies. Alan is currently in this holding cell held captive by some unknown syndicate. [/sp]

-Werewolves/Changing - Alan is a werewolf
-Psychopathy/Murder - Alan is a psychopath
-Insanity - Alan's blatant insanity
-Degenerate/Childstate - Alans voice and his kid likeness.
-Alans lack of parents
- Tutorials are made because they are an experience they went through and they want to help others, Alan makes tutorials because he has trouble with these everyday tasks and he feels the need to create tutorials as a way of proving to himself that he can function.
-Satire of HowToBasic and other online Tutorials.

ever since he was imprisoned it looks like they have been giving him specific items that would be used for a certain purpose. this one had a board, hammer, and saw. yesterday had a zipcord, painting gloves, blue paint, a staple gun, and a board. the 14th had a ball, some batteries, and some wire.

i think whoever has him imprisoned is trying to get him to do really specific tutorials. alan isn't good at specific tutorials, he's good at spontaneous tutorials, so he is getting frustrated. now he hates tutorials and is resisting by doing news stories instead.

Why keep giving him news stories if they want him to do tutorials? If they stop giving him stories, what is he to do besides tutorials?

I think its just a reference. Alan wouldn't compromise the atmosphere of the ARG by having his authorship be part of it.
