I think that the problem isn't that the attorneys always suck, it's that they have a lot of work to be doing and don't have all that much time to work on individual cases. They're like given a lot of cases to look over and stuff

It's criminal itself to be charging people for so much when majority of the population don't have enough finance to afford the defense without going into massive debt, which is another form of slavery.

Lawyers make you pay practically by the minute when it comes to setting up a case. It's absolutely ridiculous the way they get paid and how, and in turn will probably be just as expensive as losing the case. My guess is that their lawyer was asking for too much, even with all the help from Philly D, and they had to find a lawyer with a lower price tag.

I doubt it was by choice, if they are spending 55k on fees it means they needed more than 2 lawyers to work on the case, something that the video game attourney guys couldn't provide
they charged $620 for photocopying fees. they seem like quite the scumbags. $620 worth of photocopying in a month is fucking ridiculous.

The Video Game Attorney is not associated with the firm they mention. Ethan went with a larger firm to handle the case. if they were all legit color copies, and not accounting for the fact they were probably charging some ridiculous rate for time making copies and sorting the paperwork ($77.50/h minus printing fees doesn't sound too outlandish for an 8 hour day of a lawyer/associate's time), and like you got a decent bulk rate on everything in one go, that's still a stack of 2,000+ pages, or b/w it would come out to 12,000+

iirc the guy was a normal lawyer but notably advertised that he was willing to give some counsel and help out with smaller cases on the basis of small devs and youtubers in the gaming community getting fucked over for things they shouldn't. I'm sure he's a great place to start to figure out what you need to do moving forward, though I assume he can only be hired by people in his region if licences are by state or county
