what the hell is this video
anthony burch wrote it as some completely unfocused thing based on cop dramas rather than the pixel cops type of deal and went on a huge tangent with that rather than playing with the main pull of this, which is about video game cops, which would've been a way cooler idea. this video is kinda shitty due to that.
it has a lot of promise and could be a good idea but was completely side-tangented by something that was painfully unfunny. watch the bts to understand where they went wrong:

like the initial idea of "the dig dug boys are at it again," is funny, but it grew into this mess that tried to parody two ideas at once, one being a completely overdone trope of "saying it like you see it" where the cop characters shout out their cliched character development, as if that hasn't already become a cliche in itself. i had to skip past most of the video in order to enjoy it because the poorly written cop parts were too painful to enjoy.
What great timing with Pixels™ (this summer's hit comedy, starring the all star cast of Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage, Kevin James, Josh Gad and Michelle Monaghan) in theaters now! I'm really getting my fix of the classics!
[sp]This seem kind of lame imo, the whole playing on it's own cheesiness just seemed self deprecating[/sp]
Wouldn't expect anything better from Burch
When the hell did Burch work for Rocket Jump?

I guess this is where we differ, because to me, the concept of "video game cops" is lame and pandering.
and here I forgot freddie has a facepunch account
"Starring Markipilier and CaptainSparklez"
Immediate seal of 10/10 quality

fair enough. I feel that maybe it's the lesser of two evils, because while my idea isn't that great, this feels even more like pandering for a completely different reason, as it's just looking at the audience constantly, saying "hey, you're watching a cop drama, get it?" i feel like there's a lot of potential, especially with your usual production value (i mean, you got the look down of what you're parodying,) but this was the weirdest way to go because the premise was completely lost in the cop-show side of it.
but hey, you're probably right and we just like different things. i could definitely see this working in a different context.

I said that the last time and Freddie replied to me.
My favorite RocketJump/FreddieW videos have always been the ones that are the least "developed". I like the simplicity of finding a single vfx gag and make a quick vid out of it.
