Would like to add this is also a safety feature, the same mechanism triggers upon impact with anything meaning if the car was to say hit someone, they wont get impaled upon the ornament. The Spirit of Ecstacy is a huge part of the identity of, and synonymous with, Rolls-Royce cars. It's very fitting for the vintage styling of Rolls-Royces, and is a part of their legacy. But, bonnet ornaments on a Ford or a GM? [i]That is tacky[/i]. Ford Fairlanes had bonnet ornaments, but it's like, you're a damn extended-wheelbase Ford Falcon family sedan, made for mass production and assembled by a bunch of bogans. You have no reason to have a bonnet ornament.
