I feel incredibly sorry for suicidal people, but if you're going to try and off yourself, do it in manner which doesn't harm other people physically or psychologically. Think of the train driver and whatever children may end up seeing a mangled piece of meat, that somewhat resembles a man lying on the train tracks.

Like one of the comments said here, it was obvious the cop knew the guy was going to try something. The guy was acting really shady and the cop obviously was paying very close attention to him.
Imagine if the cop missed, he could have tripped over and died with the suicidal man. People who commit suicide are stupid enough as it is, let alone people who risk others in ways like this.

train drivers, (in the london underground, maybe other places.)
get paid lots of money if they are driving the train and someone jumps onto the tracks
because it's such a harrowing experience.

Just to clarify, we shouldn't be imposing more hurdles on rational people who want to commit suicide either, where we need other people to decide what's right or wrong for them. Too much basis of irrationality is subject to forcing people to live on a maybe that things could get better but some people just don't find any worth in being alive at all.

Some people may decide it's right for them - it's not for us to decide whether it was right or not. Personally, I rationalize that when you're living you're living whether you enjoy it or not. You will always have a few moments where things are looking a bit up; if you die, you most certainly won't. I'm not suicidal, depressed and frankly I'm living a fairly healthy social life, so whatever I rationalize doesn't really matter.
its pretty fucked to drop that kind of weight on your friends and family assuming you have any left at that point
no matter how shitty your life is, there's no excuse for putting the people that care about you through that
