Really love the guy playing as he showcases just how fast and brutal you can get with it.
Updated with HQ footage
this looks really fucking good, wow

and on vulkan too, glad id is supporting it
This is the guy who should have been playing during all the gameplay demos.
I absolutely love the audience's reactions.
This looks much better than I first anticipated.
Those frames
Holy crap the viewmodel of the gun with that disc-shaped module takes up like half the screen.
Out of all the things I've seen of the game, this is what makes me want to own it most
I dont understand why all gameplay showcases are shown on consoles with a very slow sensitivity. It just looks dumb when you slowly scroll around the landscape.
This has to be the first time I've ever gone "FUCK YEAH" from just watching someone play a game

Because it showcases the environments more than the gameplay itself? It's not like someone doing sick 180s and such is very readable on a big stage in front of the public.
Now this is gameplay I can get behind, kinda wish I played the beta now
They finally show PC gameplay and it's fucking camcorder footage of a projection screen.
:why:

I'm pretty sure all of ids games have exclusively used OpenGL so I'm pretty excited to see what they can do with Vulkan.
Man that was sick!
Holy shit I thought this game was going to suck.

Have you watched anything to come out in the last 2 weeks?
Jesus fucking Christ, it looks like an arena shooter (reminds me of Painkiller)
Not that's a bad thing, I love the speed and response of the weapons.
I really wish he didn't check the map every ten seconds
Really fucking glad I preordered. Can't wait for the 13th.

During stream on gamespot id said that it's easier to carry ps4 than a pc for setting up streams.

From the trailer shots I was so worried that the pace wasn't going to be up to par.
Controllers are s h i t for FPS games

Not all shooters. While I still prefer mouse and keyboard, playing the BFG Edition made me realize Doom 3 works really well for a controller in most cases - except when a melee-focused enemy is wailing on you, because most of them are hunched over or kind of small, so it makes it a real pain. In this case it helps that Doom 3 is a lot slower than the classic Dooms or this game, though.
Plus there's the fact that some series like Halo are pretty much made with controllers in mind, to the point that it just doesn't feel natural to me to play a Halo game without one.

Nah, it depends on how the game was made. Titanfall works great with a controller. Which is really nice as it means that I can play on my TV at 1366x768 on my VGA and it looks way better than on my main monitor seeing as I can get a better framerate and even throw in some anti-aliasing in there.
Edit: I was referring to the aim assist when I said that "it depends on how its made", should've just mentioned it before.
funny that what sold me isnt the massive promos, hour long livestream, or a bunch of other shit they showed.
it was this one shit cam rip.

Can't say I feel that way about halo, I played halo PC with M&KB and then halo 2, 3 and reach with a controller, but playing eldewrito I much prefer using a mouse and keyboard even though for years i played H3 with a 360 controller.

Maybe i'd think the same if I didn't get evicted from every match I tried because my computer doesn't like Eldewrito

Shooters only work well with controllers if the game's code has auto-aim to account for the poor quality of the controller- which, in my mind, proves how the controller really isn't a good choice for FPS games at all. The game's code shouldn't help you aim IMHO, and the fact that it does auto-aim does close the gap in play-ability but that it's needed at all still means that the controller is the far inferior choice as far as I'm concerned
the lack of music makes it not feel like doom. the environment feels like generic future space station #6472-b, looks too clean well-lit and shiny, which doesn't feel like doom. enemy placement and level design doesn't look doom-y.
just cuz it looks fast and has blood n guts doesn't make it doom.

I know about the aim assist, I didn't mention it seeing as I presumed you knew about that anyway (and you did), but it really doesn't bother me that much, the main benefit to me is that I can pretty much play a bit more comfortably with a wireless controller and in most cases I can squeeze some frames by playing on a TV. (usually a fuckton, from 2048x1152 to 1366x768, there are some settings which I disable anyway, motion blur, depth of field, vignette effects, anything that affects visibility in any way, geometry detail, those kinda things)
It's kinda cool to just sit in a couch\armchair thing and lay around while playing a game instead of sitting on a chair all day.
I know having aim assist isn't the greatest solution, but it does open up a few more opportunities for me to play other games I wouldn't be able to otherwise run at a decent framerate. Playing with a Keyboard on my TV would be very uncomfortable, with the controller I at least have some freedom of movement.
Even without aim assists I can still enjoy singleplayer FPS games though, or third person games and whatever else works with a controller. I actually played Civilization V and XCOM 2 with a controller and it was really comfy.
I honestly doubt most people do what I do though, my case is kinda unusual, but I'd rather play with a controller at 60 FPS instead of torturing myself with frame drops and 30 FPS and whatever delays on my main monitor.
the lack of music makes it not feel like doom.
Its a graphical presentation.
You could look into the game for like 5 seconds and find out if it has music or not. Spoilers:
It does.
Because its Doom.
the environment feels like generic future space station #6472-b, looks too clean well-lit and shiny, which doesn't feel like doom.
Says who?
Theres tons of chrome metal textured areas in Doom 1 when you're not in the bowels of satan.
enemy placement and level design doesn't look doom-y.
I dont understand how this is even a statement.
Demons teleporting in isnt Doom?
Being able to jump, look up and down, and walk underneath bridges isnt Doom?
just cuz it looks fast and has blood n guts doesn't make it doom.
Since when were you the authority on what Doom is?
