Not all furries go around in fursuits and really try to convince themselves they're animals.

But these ones that do really depress me. If you're "struggling with reality" you need to punch reality in the face and wrestle it to the ground. Not run away and pretend you're a cartoon wolf.

Either way, though, if they want to do all this and have furry parties and stuff that's their thing, not mine.

What concerns me more than anything else when it comes to the Furry fandom is precisely this kind of disconnect with reality. My specific worry is that these people might be so inclined to participate in radical animal rights groups like the ALF and firebomb buildings among other things.

I think it's fascinating to look into this. After all, furries are a subculture for themselves and although a lot do not or cannot relate to them it's still important to know what makes these people lead such a lifestyle.
Personally I would never wear a fursuit or anything like that. It's good fun to draw anthropomorphic characters for people who will appreciate the work, but I'd never go as far as to claim I feel like a certain animal myself.
