I just watched this thing breaking down a Cinema Sins videos and thought you guys might like it too.
I quite enjoyed that. CinemaSins pisses me off with their crappy way of going about what they do.
But I thought Cinema Sins wasnt supposed to be taken seriously anyway?

The issue is that they frame their videos in such a way where it is hard to tell if they are serious or not, which misleads people.
The thing I found is that the longer the videos got, the less funny they became.

Plus it basically gives them a "get out of jail, free"-card/"Schrödinger's Irony". Liked our joke? Glad you did! Thought our joke was stupid and ignorant? It was ironically stupid and ignorant!

I hope you don't take it for serious
But I thought Cinema Sins wasnt supposed to be taken seriously anyway?
point being that it's the ultimate excuse to be lazy and disregard criticism
joke is bad? inaccurate? pointless? cheap? "well it's not meant to be taken seriously"
I thought they did stuff like continuity errors, goofs, inaccuracies, etc.
I haven't watched much of their content but I found them by looking for things like that, and they do that sometimes but it seems to be mostly things like "Making me read text on screen. *ding*" or "in case you thought it was X city in Y country *ding*"
When I subscribed Cinema Sins back then was good and short. Now they are long and full of "jokes".

i like there brand sins though
I hope you don't take it for serious
Problem is that a lot of people who watch them regulary actually believe they're serious.
I hope you don't take it for serious
No I don't, but what bothers me about it is how prolific they are for what they do. They trivialize real criticism and make people think "Nit picking" is just the same as actual criticism.
I know they're "funny" videos not meant to be taken seriously, but they are taken seriously by enough people who aren't versed in actual film critique. I've left theatres from films and heard essentially "CinemaSins" level critique of the film and, maybe I was just eavesdropping, but there wasn't irony or sarcasm there. I can't imagine that's a lone event with such a large channel.
It's really down to the explanation they give about their jokes. "You like the joke? It was a joke! LOL GUYS SO FUNNY" and "You didn't like the joke? It was an ironically shitty joke" No you fuckers it was just a bad joke because you guys are lazy hacks at this stage in your channels life.

Like I used to enjoy some of their videos, they used to focus less on weird nitpicky potential plot holes or just full on not watching the movie they're watching. They used to critique things, I thought, now they just shit on content with the hopes of being funny. It's not.
Damn I thought it was going to be a mild-mid roast but seriously after watching that, it makes cinema sins look like it understands literally nothing whatsoever about movies, even to expense by cheap joke standards. There's nothing gained in "not taking something so seriously" if in the process you completely dismantle everything the movie sets up and delivers solely so a joke can better fit into your youtube delivery system to churn out hits.
If absolutely nothing else, it shows what level of ignorance you need to maintain to pander to the lowest common denominator and be a success. Lazy cunts.
But I thought Cinema Sins wasnt supposed to be taken seriously anyway?
It's fun to jokingly bash a movie based on minor nitpicks for the sake of comedy, but there's really no point if those nitpicks are misinformed and plain incorrect. Not being serious isn't an excuse for being lazy.
Like it would be funnier if the sins came from scrutinising the film rather than him being oblivious. But I guess that would require actual effort.
Comedy works because it's at least partly based on reality. If your facts are wrong, then the comedy isn't going to work either (unless the audience is totally ignorant).
This is retarded obviously cinemasins is saying whatever the fuck like how do you take their videos as a legit critique

"I didn't watch the video but love cinemasins content and am really upset that people are enjoying a video that points out how crap it is"
I actually legit thought they were trying to do legit critiques this whole time, and just thought they were bad at it.
Holy fuck I'm glad someone did a video on this. I stopped watching CinemaSins about a year or two ago because it was less witty critisism and more dumb one liners.
Seriously, compare his newer videos to his older videos. As soon as he got popular, he got lazy and learned he could get away with saying anything.
I've always hated cinemasins. They often make people think good movies are bad.

their jokes are cheap and inaccurate, whether or not it's 'legit critique' makes no difference. zero correlation here
[editline]15th April 2016[/editline]
here's how this goes
"their jokes don't work as legit critique"
- but they're not meant to be legit critique :ok:

What?
Their jokes aren't inaccurate, they're basically pointing out normal flaws that we as a movie going community ignore because that makes a good movie.
Also this video was just as nitpicky as they were and I'm supposed to take this guys point seriously?
His point could've been made in a minute or less, instead he's being just as long and breathy with it as the Cinema Sins guys.

yeah they are inaccurate as you could see in that video...?
The Holmes video is easily one of cinemasins' weakest. Along with their Watchmen one.
yeah they are inaccurate as you could see in that video...?
They're not inaccurate???
They're not inaccurate???
Yeah it was man.
There was tons of inaccurate complaints about things the movie had just shown
"Why don't they have guns" Proceeding a scene where a dude just had a gun. Totally 100% accurate right?

I've been to film school, i've studied what "Film critique" actually is, and what it means under people who did for a living. This is not film critique, nor is it
they're basically pointing out normal flaws that we as a movie going community ignore because that makes a good movie.
no. They point out non flaws and make them flaws. They exaggerate and cut things for their own comedic purposes.
They're not inaccurate???
if the punchline of a joke is that something is not explained when it clearly is, that's the textbook definition of inaccurate
