Didn't think that form factor was even aerodynamically feasible but shit they made it work
drone an RC is redundant, it's not quite like Rip in piece but it's close fyi.
Wouldn't be surprised if Disney comes out with official Star Wars drones themselves by the time the new trilogy ends and drones have picked even more steam.
it's not a fucking drone. Sure, it matches the dictionary definition of one, but the media has turned it into something negative. People hear drone, they think of the silent, grey killing machines in the middle east, not a hobbyist's toy.
So don't fucking perpetuate it. The quicker people stop calling them drones the quicker the government can fuck off from my hobby and job.
That area is beautiful
I want to live there

"remote controlled first person video aerial vehicle"
"drone"
drone is much nicer and succinct

quadcopter or RC quadcopter.
Want something broader, UAV, want the classification FAA would have it under UAS.
Also the last time I heard drone from a professional on the airwaves the person said they used the word drone to dumb it down for people, people who are stupid.
though you might be agreeing with Tmaxx, because I didn't see a camera on the quadcopter so it wouldn't fit your preference.
Lets call them...
flying machines

Small scale stuff doesn't need to be aerodynamically feasible. You can make a toy lawnmower fly if you want to. And you should. It's funny

how it's supposed to be made

Uh. Shouldn't you be upset at the ignorant idiots who assume a small scale RC drone is evil, rather than people who use the proper terminology. And besides if you successfully change the name then people will just still use the "negative" term for your thing regardless (see gamergate as a great example of this).
Makes so much sense too with the LED strip on the back like the FPV Racing video:

Then there's also this terrifying thing.

Haha, imagine building one and then deliberately flying it inches over people's heads

The whole "moving fast through a closely-packed cluster of trees in a forest" thing in this video makes me think of that speeder bike chase in Return of the Jedi.

it's pretty interesting seeing a rekindling of the RC hobby

Man, you are so butthurt over drones being called drones
why are you being so furious?
Why NOT call drones drones?
should've made a snow speeder, sounds about right too
drone an RC is redundant, it's not quite like Rip in piece but it's close fyi.
It's actually not, "drone" implys that it is autonomous, being controlled by a computer or over extreme distances via complex system.
That thing is RC, as in "remote controlled" because it's range is most likely only a max of a mile or less.
The device name, if you want to call it that, is a Quadcopter because of the four rotors.
With all the different names and variations it becomes quite easy to get this stuff messed up.
Rip in peace is redundant though.

"It's not a drone! It's not a drone! I mean, that's literally exactly what it is b-but don't call it that!!"
I knew J.J. Abrams was pushing for practical effects buts this is silly!
listen, fuckholes. this is exactly like when the news called all videogames murder simulators or all rock music devil music.
are you serious lol
since when was "drone" synonymous with "murder machine wot kills children"

since the media started describing them as privacy invading machines. it stemmed from the drones bombing overseas. People being people, that is, very stupid, associated them, and the media has exploited that and bam here we are. Government's trying to ban them, people are scared of toys, and an entire hobby is at stake because people are dumb.

I imagined a man saying this, 6'4'' tall and huge muscular build, but he has a tiny voice, akin to that of a 14 year old who was punched in the throat and screamed "Listen, fuckholes"

That's the publics issue. You'll find that eventually people will get used to drones and stop giving a shit.
The news calling me a killer for playing shooters doesn't make me unable to murder people in video games not does it make it valid that I do in real life.
listen, fuckholes. this is exactly like when the news called all videogames murder simulators or all rock music devil music.
No it's absolutely not. Drone drone drone drone drone.
You can't stop us.
[editline]8th February 2015[/editline]
So you want people to just abandon the word instead of turning it into something good?
Heck I never saw the word drone as a bad thing, and I don't know anyone that are retarded enough to believe drones are privacy invasion devices and only that.
should have put colored meshing under/over the blades to make it look more like the falcon but still be flyable
listen, fuckholes. this is exactly like when the news called all videogames murder simulators or all rock music devil music.
It's more like calling a video game a video game. It's not the people using the word you need to be educating, but the people with the misconceptions.
except it doesn't. the point of that image is that those 2 things shouldn't be classed as the same thing.
