2 of my favourite games meet at last

ive been following this for a while actually
note: you can download the mod right now and make scenarios and etc with it, but there's no mp
Oh boy, can't wait to get 10 fps
Those anomalies look wicked.
Oh fuck yes
:joy:
To be fair ArmA is a good engine for STALKER to be on. There isn't anything that ArmA can't do that the STALKER engine could.
Infact with the new ArmA 3 engine you benefit from things like equipment customization. Which is awesome. And vehicles, though I hope they're severely limited when this online mod comes out.
Assuming you have a decent NPC/Trader System, Quest System, Anomaly/Artifact Hunting and NPC creatures working you essentially have STALKER. Letting players join and play out their own factions is super cool.

I've heard that the only available Multiplayer servers right now are the Russian only ones hosted by the devs which kinda sucks. I hope there's going to be an actual English translation and community for this eventually

I can't find any links for a download. I don't think it's available yet.

It seems to just be a russian release at the moment, if this is actually their site:http://armstalker.ru/dowland.html

Seems to be working
The anomalies are surprisingly good considering the effort you have to go through to create particle effects in ARMA 3.
I want it to be made so bad.
I must coop in the zone.
There was a mod similar to this for operation flash point Cold war Crisis.
Is it more stable than the arma 2 mods?
There's this, and a gmod RP mod I'm waiting for to finally achieve some form of stalker coop

Multiplayer Stalker isn't Stalker to me tbh
Multiplayer Stalker isn't Stalker to me tbh
I'd argue it's still stalker so long as you're just playing with a small group.
Maybe, but most small groups are stil going to be guys fucking around and screaming and stuff. I play Stalker seriously, I try to immerse myself and be a part of the world, and I can't do that, even with a handful of other people. It's a very solitary experience for me.
It'd be even worse on an Arma server.
Maybe, but most small groups are stil going to be guys fucking around and screaming and stuff.
Then you need better friends to play it with.
Then you need better friends to play it with.
Uh, no, but if you're in almost any group of friends then nobody is going to be taking it that seriously. I've never been in a group of people and had things remain ultra-serious in-setting for very long. Even when doing roleplays that actually encourage that like Dungeons and Dragons.
This is really nitpicky but that car buildup at the 1 minute mark is kinda out of place considering nobody really fled Pripyat in a hurry after reactor 4 exploded.
Thats probably due to the inherent fact that you are playing with 20 something year olds Westerner kids, even if everyone would take it ultra serious it would just become really cringy. Like Gmod RP servers.
The background setting of Stalker is something that is so remotely far away from the perception of Westerners that it is almost impossible to completely submerge yourself and others in it via online play. You actually have to live in an Eastern European location to be able to get immersed in the setting and its atmosphere.
I think I know what you are looking for, sadly however you wouldnt be able to find this exprience unless you manage to find an Eastern European group of people that "get it". The catch is, however, that none of them would probably be able to speak English.
At least this is what I believe to be the main issue.
I'm not sure if you ever played stalker online (s-zone).
looks interesting but based on the ARMA community, this is going to turn out as another dayz in a STALKER setting.

i think it depends if the stalker community gets in on this, could see a nice blend of actual teamwork and shit vs bandits.

DayZ's problem is it's every man for himself, with any "faction" usually consisting of people who play together in the first place. If this is to have actual factions, it could turn out a lot more interesting.

Thats like saying its hard to get immersed in a fantasy game unless you live in the UK or in Narnia.
Where a person lives doesnt really affect their ability to become immersed in a story or setting. Its actually up to the media to get a person immersed; it has to do a good job fleshing out the setting or the user cant get into it.
Oh my God, I want this now. I'll be sure to keep an eye on this as it continues development. In the meantime, something tells me I'm going to be reinstalling the STALKER games soon.
