Hey guys! I'm a big Avatar: TLA and Legend of Korra fan, and I've made several bending shorts in the past. However, I've never tackled waterbending because the effects were more complicated than the other elements. I really wanted to make a waterbending short, so I finally decided to sit down at my computer last week and figure how to accomplish waterbending in after effects. I think it turned out pretty good and I had a ton of fun making this short. Like always, feedback would be greatly appreciated, and hope you guys enjoy!
earthbending > everything else

subtype bending, yo
metal/lava bending have insane potential
Not bad, I'll admit.
Ok now do one for bloodbending.
Do one where you can morph into things like the metal guy from terminator 2.
I would want to airbend for maximum parkour and agility experience
Read the title as "5 Everyday Uses of Waterboarding"
Wasn't that badly disappointed though, it's pretty neatly done actually.

this guy knows what's up
look underneath you. you know what that is? that ain't water. that's earth. you done son.

actually waterbending would be useful for waterboarding, in that you can simply bend the water into the person's lungs then take out the said water. Not only that, just cast a water sphere around the head of said person and let them suffocate. To make it interesting, can lower the temperature of the water and slowly turn it to ice.
I would love to see a video on creepy ways to kill with air bending, like giving people a stroke but channeling a small air bubble through the veins, to the heart, to the brain.

man, screw that, what about air, that shit's everywhere
what is that in your lungs? air
what is that around your head? air
what is that on (nearly) every single place, crevice and cavity on earth? air
you done son

though I admit earthbanding is fucking badass
but I can fly :v:
Eh...
Wasn't expecting studio level effects, but this was... REALLY weak.
The whole time I was just thinking how it could be better. The liquid in general just looks like a flat image overlay distorting the plate... because that's what it is.
The car scene could have had traces of dirt in the water after picking up the mud, I'm pretty sure the video game scene's liquid changes color between instances of the effect, like you remembered after the fact that "oh crap, right, it's soda/coffee." Why have two instances of that anyway? There was no point, and it only hurt your pacing.
The rain, you part the drops away from you, but we don't see any drops BEHIND you, so it just looks like a flat 2D image. Seriously, even just having another layer of drops scaled down, with less opacity would have been better than just nothing. Oh right, that would have taken some matting, and actual effort.
Fuck, even from a practical standpoint this is shoddy. You carry this bucket around, and it's clear there's no sense of weight from it. Drop something mildly heavy in the bucket to keep it from just clattering like empty plastic when you set it down or swing easily when you move it. SOMETHING.
But my notice of the effects is only symptomatic of the key issue: none of this shit is funny or original.
I'd give the slipshod effects a pass if the concept were funny or imaginative, but there's just NOTHING here.
You make tea (which seems more like a firebender thing because you heated the water, so evidently you're the Avatar). You clean something. You drink something with out moving because you have waterbending powers (and evidently you're REALLY squandering them, because it was only ever SERIOUSLY talented benders that could do their stuff with only gestures from their heads and faces to do it). You EVENTUALLY hold back the rain after taking ten seconds to register you're getting wet, like you've never seen the "falling skywaters" before.
And then you water your plants.
This is ALL shit that was covered in Avatar itself. The series was HUGE on showing casual or practical, non combative applications of bending, to the point of things even the fans had never thought of. And even some things they HAD, and never figured would be covered (ie: bloodbending).
So this whole video fails even to meet the standard of the show it's trying to homage.
What the fuck was the point? It wasn't funny. Nothing bad happened, or was narrowly prevented from happening, unless you count getting rained on. It's all been covered by the show. The visual effects are bad. The practical effects are bad. It wasn't funny, thought provoking, impressive... I can't even understand how you thought you had enough ideas for a video.
The title CONCEPT would be fine, but the end result comes up wanting in every single respect.
I award you no points... and may Raava have mercy on your soul...

Ooh, that's harsh. I appreciate the time you took to critique my video. I will take your points into consideration and work harder to make my shorts better in the future. Thanks man!

I am not a waterbending expert like you but even if he could only bend water he could make it hotter and eventually make it boil by moving it around changing the state of the energy contained in it to heat energy. You could theoretically make water in a thermos boil by repeatedly turning the thermos upside-down and back again.
