I honestly think EA is trying to undermine Respawn's value that way so they can later "save them" through a buyout.
We live in a world of "funny" coincidences, i'm sure that big and menacing shadow that lurks behind us won't devour us in the next 5 seconds.
In all honesty this is the only rational answer I can think of when it comes to release dates this hot. No rational developer or publisher would try this asinine tactic UNLESS they fully intend to pull a serendipitous purchase of a "struggling developer".
oh wow, if that "having planned free DLC is against the standard and won't make EA enough profit, so they tried to assure the game's failure" theory is true, then that's pretty fucked
I'm of the more optimistic mindset that they didn't think there would be so much overlap between the audiences for BF1 and TF2, they wanted Battlefield to appeal to the people that still want old fashioned slow-paced low-tech Battlefield action while Titanfall tries to steal people looking for a fast-paced future shooter from Call of Duty

ok
but then put the game with a smaller market first
either way, that'd barely be a dip in battlefield's sales and a huge boost to titanfall's sales; it seems like an obvious choice
there was nothing (that we know about) stopping them from doing this

Respawn is comprised of a ton of ex-Infinity Ward employees - IW being a company that was "saved" by an Activision buyout. For them to repeat that mistake would be insane.
having planned free DLC is against the standard and won't make EA enough profit
It is actually standard to have planned free DLC, some developers even have it ready when the game launches - Awesomenauts and Overwatch are great examples of this. Usually, though, it's because the developer has an alternate source of income (such as additional paid DLC or microtransactions) that they can cash in on in return. Titanfall 2 doesn't have any microtransactions or paid DLC, unless they plan on selling singleplayer content (and hopefully they do).
I had no idea titian fall 2 came out yet. I might pick it up when I get paid, cause I love the idea of it. Never got around to actually playing the first one since the beta was super broken for me.
They didn't advertise it enough.
That's their fault but that's pretty regular in most industries.

I mean shit, EA had to revise their quarterly earnings because of Titanfall 2's lackluster sale.
They obviously thought it was going to sell.
If EA fucks them over, I hope they Respawn's team leave and forms another company, this time with no publisher owning them.

Why would they put it within a week's release of BF1 though? That still seems just as insane to me. You either have to think EA is a bunch of mongoloids or a crew of suited conspirators, and honestly neither surprise me out of EA.

They would be doing that for the second time then, haha
They are making the DLC free so they don't fragment their userbase like on TF1 which was later rectified by making the DLC free.

I know, I still don't get why they went EA after Activision fucked them over, EA isn't much better, hell, they are worse than Activision

because EA let them keep the IP
I'm pretty certain EA just thought that having two distinct shooters will be enough for people to buy both, they don't have much to gain for TF2 failing.
I can't imagine why the fuck you would work for EA, working the in the AAA dev scene is rough enough but EA seems to take great pleasure in shitting on everyone, especially devs they've got a choke-hold on.

I'm pretty sure the guy said it was the other way around.
Bombing a game just because of free DLC is completely fucking ridiculous, the other reasons of company meddling makes way more sense than free DLC.
Seeing Titanfall 2 abbreviated as TF2 is really confusing to me.
Knowing EA this is 200% true
EA using scummy business tactics is nothing new. But hey, why does it matter when we are making loads of cash?

"Slow paced"
Until very recently I didn't even know this game was going to be released. They didn't market it at all.
The same thing happened with Mirrors Edge 2 if I remember correctly.
Barely any marketing was done for that game, I personally didn't even know it was released until days later.
They're just trying to damage infinite wards sales. If they manage to hurt them enough on that part they'd be able score a lot of extra dough having capital on the first person market on future sales.
Cod players already played a bunch of Battlefield on the side, So now EA has two aces up it's sleeve. Something that looks to have the same Theme as the new Cod but seems to play better in multiplayer.
It's like people forget that Titanfall is a pretty new IP standing besides these industry giants, the player count being tiny compared to them is just being ignorant to the power of a brand.

It's slower than BF4 and 3, at least

This is the most likely thing, there's no conspiracy. They just want BF1 to dominate the battlefield market and Titanfall to take over the COD market, that's all.

Take off a couple horsepower maybe, its still nucking futs how intense it can be.
The only advertising for Titanfall 2 I've seen is the logo on a sheet of paper they serve the food on at Buffalo Wild Wings. The only reason I knew it was out is because I saw Cr1TiKaL playing it.

They have all the data they need to have cold hard facts; TF1 was only through Origin, BF3/BF4 was only through Origin. Pretty easy for them to figure out if there's a massive audience overlap or not.

If you go to Buffalo Wild Wings again anytime soon, you should totally give me the code you get because I want the amazing looking skin but I don't like BWW :v:

Me too please :P, there's no Buffalo Wild Wings near me.

Easy. Do you even know how many people they employ? even for 6 - 9 month contract work?
A fucking lot. You work for EA for a short period of time and make tons of connections which can get you jobs elsewhere.
Honestly I was like "I never want to work for EA" but i've changed my mind and see it as a huuge benefit.
