Hey, just posting this on behalf of my friend, who made this amazing minecraft music video. He also wrote the song in the background. After much discussion, we decided to name it "Cauliflower". Typical minecraft timelapse with unfitting music
Typical minecraft timelapse with unfitting music
I thought the music fit pretty well.
What's the song called?
What's the song called?
Cauliflower. He wrote it for the video.
Not that original.
Not that original.
Yeah, but I thought it was pretty cool.
At 4:15 you can see an unfinished block in his texture pack (the purple squares). It wouldn't be so bad if it were just a quick scroll by but considering he in editing (and therefore us as viewers) had about 20 seconds of footage to notice it just doesn't show good worksmanship. The quality is nice and the song is good, but there really is no denying that it's basically the same as every other Minecraft montage, with the exception that it doesn't use that shitty "Talkin' bout minecraft" song everyone considers to be the official theme. It's got the slow-scrolling-through-one-area, and the sun-goes-up, moonlight-and-stars-rotate sort of thing. I like it, it's just not that unique.
The music would fit better if the clips played quicker. That constant beat in the background gives the song a quicker pace. With the sun inching up above the horizon, either the video feels drawn out or the song seems too quick for the video. Perfect example is 1:16 - 1:30, the sun doesn't even move halfway across the sky but there are hundreds of beats, which makes it seem like there should be at least 1 full day/night cycle there. If the house building at 1:30 - 2:40 were sped up and it wasn't a simple house but a more elaborate building, then the song would fit.
This is actually the first minecraft montage I've ever seen, heh. I thought it was great, but you guys keep saying it's unoriginal. I can see that alot of people would make videos like this, though. Thanks for all the criticism, anywho. I'll let him know what you guys thought of it, and hopefully his videos will improve in the future! [editline]20th February 2011[/editline] Heres the song, by the way. If you wanted it. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14134085/Cauliflower.mp3
it's not BAD.... it's just dull.. the song and the video are fine, but it just gets repetitive.
Creeper almost got em at about 1:58
