KILL IT WITH FIRE. No but seriously, beetles are nasty. Why not have a nice pigeon or something.
thats fucking awesome i want one
Is the insect actually alive with this? It's ethically dubious to have complete control over another living entity, even if it has a brain the size of a pinhead.
Man, if I had one of those...
Looks almost real. Man, if I had one of those...
Did you listen? It is real.
Is the insect actually alive with this? You notice how it landed? It did that by itself, not the controller.
Now I have a reason to kill all insects I see.
Hell yeah, we should make a beetle fighting championship.

Holy fuck that's cool. Cyborg crabs next week, right?
Brings a whole new meaning to the old phrase "A fly on the wall". :q:
Is the insect actually alive with this? It's ethically dubious to have complete control over another living entity, even if it has a brain the size of a pinhead.
It doesn't have a brain. It has a ventral nerve cord. :eng101:
Is the insect actually alive with this? It's ethically dubious to have complete control over another living entity, even if it has a brain the size of a pinhead.
It's no different from a computer, only that it's organic.
It's no different from a computer, only that it's organic.
You could say the same about yourself. Not to say that I think the robo beetle is unethical, as I don't.
You could say the same about yourself. Not to say that I think the robo beetle is unethical, as I don't.
I do say the same about myself. A human brain is just a machine that takes input, references it to past experience, and outputs a response.
I do say the same about myself. A human brain is just a machine that takes input, references it to past experience, and outputs a response.
Not trying to go all PETA here, but it sounds like you're saying it's perfectly ethical to capture a human being, put implants in his brain without his consent and cause him to run around the place blindly smashing into things.
Uh. That's awesome.
KILL IT WITH FIRE. No but seriously, beetles are nasty. Why not have a nice pigeon or something.
because a pigeon wouldn't really respond so nicely to eletrical shocks
The ultimate spy? What if they just squish it? :v:
Made my skin crawl, but still awesome.
related, intense
Not trying to go all PETA here, but it sounds like you're saying it's perfectly ethical to capture a human being, put implants in his brain without his consent and cause him to run around the place blindly smashing into things.
Obviously not, since humans have evolved to be social and respect each other (most of the time at least). A beetle on the other hand, has a brain so simple that ethics really just don't apply.
Strogg beetle :awesomelon:

The beetle can do everything and anything it wants, the scientists are just giving it muscle spasms.

A human can adapt, rationalize, think, create, and manipulate it's surroundings. A human has a chance of breaking mind control (even though the this isn't mind control). Why else do we decide that we live by our rules and follow our principles? Because we are the top of the food chain, and we have to make sure it stays that way.
Reminds me of this... :tinfoil:
Reminds me of Fifth Element, when the guy controls the beetle to spy on the president.
