this is gonna flop. they should've gone for a Homeworld 3 with base-building like the previous. there's no competition, no one is in the market for creating a Homeworld-like game. why don't they capitalize on it?
Thanks to TB, I definitely won't be getting this on release. Hopefully Blackbird will work on this and update it more later on, because the shitty difficulty/AI and lack of rebinding keys are huge cons to me.
-sigh- I guess I'll wait for a sale...
Shit. I'm surprised he still gave it a cautious recommendation after all that.
You can almost feel in his voice how much he wanted this game to be great. It seems like it would've been had there been more content and few less issues
It looks good but just not good enough to justify a $50 pricetag.

???????
Can't even tell its built on Unity. Particle effects for explosions+smoke are a little bit of a disappointment, though.

Its on unity??
Pretty good news, BBI mentioned officially that they will be releasing more maps after the game's launch and that these maps will be free.

No mention of improvements to the A.I or rebindable keys as of yet, but I'm sure that'll come given those two are pretty big things and the main things that are dragging the game down from a great game to just a ok game.

Unity is a fantastic engine, it's just got a bad rep thanks to all the greenlight mongoloids.

Oh I'm not doubting its quality, its just usually you can spot it, like Unreal.
Unity 5 is good, before then it was pretty shit for a big game like this. Both wasteland and KSP suffer from out of memory crashes cause the 64bit client was a mess. Wasteland eventually rebuilt their game to run on unity 5 and KSP is doing the same thing currently.
Never would've guessed it's unity. I just really hope they fix up that AI, it's a gaping hole in what otherwise looks like a very solid RTS
Honestly, the handholding is more off-putting than bad AI, even if the AI is worse than Homeworld 2's. Despite the issues though, I'll certainly buy it before it goes on sale, maybe sooner.

This game was being made before Relic bought the Homeworld license - this isn't intended to be anything other than a spin-off game rather than a sequel.

And Titanfall is on the source engine.
And Titanfall is on the source engine.
Which still blows my mind, btw. Such an impressive use of that engine.

I mean Source is/was far more flexible for FPS games already though. Name a successful RTS on the Unity Engine.
My guess the only way for this game to be successful is if we have mod support. Since thats what kept Homeworld 2 alive for a long time.

There aren't successful RTSs on Unity because no one is making RTSs nowadays, not because Unity isn't "flexible".
New maps are already being play tested and BlackBird is looking into the AI issues, so I feel like the game will end up being even better.
Honestly, the campaign is pretty cool. I could see this game really being worth it if they fix the AI issues and increase the map roster
