it's interesting that's for sure
gameplay seems pretty decent but my god there's no way it lives up to the wait + the backer funds
gameplay seems pretty decent but my god there's no way it lives up to the wait + the backer funds
The dialogue makes my dignity glands hurt
The dialogue makes my dignity glands hurt
it just seems amateur-ish actually a lot of things in this game seems amateur-ish to be honest
This game really feels like something made in a dorm by 4 roommates in their spare time.
4 Million dollars.
Considering you have to dash into enemies to kill them, wouldn't it make sense for your 'bullets' to slightly penetrate them? Then you could have a charged shot which penetrated further. Right now it looks like you either dash into an enemy and collide with the enemy behind him or you dash at an enemy and immediately dash back to prevent yourself from taking a hit.

So yeah, the Dash mechanic kind of seems.. not very well thought-out.
Level design looks uninspired. Really apparent especially after coming off Shovel Knight myself
The character models are ok, not 4million ok, but passable. The levels are outright trash and everything else looks uninspired. I feel bad for the concept artists that worked on this, because the one thing that does look good are the character sprites on the dialog boxes.
it looks alright, but not 4 million dollars alright
Did they resize pictures of pasta in paint a few times to make those explosions? Those things are an eyesore [editline]15th June 2016[/editline] Also "that's more like it" is said way too much
THATS MORE LIKE IT HERE WE GO HERE WE GO THATS MORE LIKE IT THATS MORE LIKE IT THATS MORE LIKE IT HERE WE GO HERE WE GO THATS MORE LIKE IT [editline]15th June 2016[/editline]
This game really feels like something made in a dorm by 4 roommates in their spare time.
this would be good work for a 4 man team with no budget. Could be done but would be a little hard.
The voice acting and writing is kind of subpar and amateur yet there is so much of it. If you're gonna have a ton of voice acting in the game at least get some good actors and writers. For example they could just cut the first dialog with Dr. White after the "we must get to the laboratory and quickly" and nothing would have been lost really.. I love how they made a big scene of the first enemy "oh no now you are going to have to destroy that malfunctioning robot", how about just dropping the enemy there, doesn't really take a genius to just shoot it. Gameplay looks kind of decent, tho the small enemies look abit difficult to hit and they take multiple hits to "stun" or whatever. Also the whole dashing through thing doesn't really work when a line of enemies can't be shot through. Just having the stunned enemies ignore bullets could have helped with it. It really doesn't look like it PLAYS badly at all, but for the amount of money and time spent and the big names behind it all I would have imagined a lot more polished product? All the small weird things I notice really stack up and make it seem kind of amateurish. The graphics are bad that goes without saying.•
that pong boss was fucking out of left field in difficulty given everything else he just kind of walked through
that fucking underwater The Mega Man series always used the background and some waves to indicate water levels, and maybe the occasional outlying game actually had overlay effects (like thin transparency on Mega Man 8), but actually having everything all muddy and watery in the first part of it is a severe visual detriment and could've easily just been left to background detail. You can barely even see projectiles during that portion. This is like a fangame of the X series with hints of Classic that doesn't actually understand how Mega Man game and level design works properly.
here we go
gameplay seems pretty decent but my god there's no way it lives up to the wait + the backer funds
There's a problem with the system if Inafune can get away with releasing...This, after 3 years and 4 million dollars. For now I can only hope people are a bit more conscious with who they throw their money on.
Meanwhile tiny indie devs with like, a quarter of the budget put out things that look a million time better, good job Inafune, not to mention that even with a studio, his game ReCore looks really, really rough for a game that comes out in September
The game really just looks unfinished. No lipsync on any of the dialogue, barren levels, hideous particle effects, and even the players run cycle feels like a placeholder. What the fuck happened?
This doesn't look very different from the backer demo, what Is this actually a newer version?
it feel's unfinished
Can someone please explain why this game has so much hype? It looks even more generic than most generic platformers.

Guy makes his own knock off Mega Man to show up publisher, Everyone was excited to have a slice of -good old-, everyone finds out the hard way that Mega Man's development team consisted of more than just Inafune, old Mega Man dev team still at Capcom making gems like Dragon's Dogma facepalm in the background while other former-Capcom developers make comments that nothing about the MN9 mess surprises them as they knew the exact kind of man Inafune was. Throwing more money at a development than necessary is not going to make it go faster, and it's not going to lead to a better game, if it can't be made good with 1 million it won't be better at 4 million.

I mean certainly if you don't have a good game in the first place throwing more money at it is probably not going to help (unless the entire reason it's not good is just that it didn't have enough time in development) Throwing more money at a good developer can mean more of a good thing, however.

Some of the goals are an insane amount of money for an easy project. [editline]16th June 2016[/editline]
I can't really agree with that. Good or bad dev, a reasonable amount of funds works better than an excessive amount. Money doesn't make a game good. Innovation and creativity does. Doesn't have to actually innovate anything, the dev merely has to innovate their own techniques to do something interesting and exciting.
