this dude makes lots of videos regarding prototype and dev hardware, and this is him playing an e3 build of Ghost Recon Future Soldier. pretty neat.
I mean, you always know that stuff is faked but it's interesting to actually see to what extent.
damn this was a good video. wonder how he got those builds.
Could be from a friend or employer.
I managed to get a demo version/build of Mario Kart 8 from a previous job.

there's a whole black market regarding builds. friends of friends, press, etc. they burn a lot of these discs when making builds because that's one of the best ways to test it for some consoles (360 and early PS stuff especially) assembler games is a big place for most of them, with ebay being a secondary but occasional place to find goodies. this was probably found in some form of a buyout or a company going out of business, with assets sold by a bank before Ubisoft could stop them (this happens a lot.) another possibility is that a developer took it home with him, threw it in storage, and then the storage locker gets sold off. it passes a couple hands then ends up in a collector's like ptop who then shows it off. it's a pretty neat process.
i've been interested in dev hardware and software for quite some time, and it can get pretty strange where you go to find some stuff. japan's ebay (can't remember the name, but it's owned by Yahoo weirdly enough) is a good place to find a lot of dev hardware for Nintendo and PS stuff.

XDKs (Xbox 360 dev kits) are some of the more interesting. Xbox 360 hardware has this thing called an "eFuse" that allows them to physically burn certain microcode into the hardware, meaning on a microscopic and hardware-layer they can make nonrecoverable changes. So far they've used it to differentiate between dev and retail kits (Burned in at manufacturing) but can also use it to remotely brick the console.
the video is down from a copyright claim by ubisoft
RIP

it's back up

Love seeing prototype builds and demo builds like these. I remember seeing the E3 footage of the 360 version's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter at E3 2005, and just being really impressed with the overall presentation, which really gave an impression of 'next-gen'.

Holy fuck, that's BS.
Oh, looks like it's been restored.

He's currently streaming a prototype for "Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath" at the moment:

He said Ubisoft withdrew their claim when he contested it. He's determined to fight for it.

Stream's done.
Glad you guys liked it. Sorry about it disappearing for that period, hate when that happens but it was to be expected from Ubisoft unfortunately.
I was crazy hyped for this game when I saw this demo, from the audio to the art direction. Then 1 year later later they changed everything and it was soo off-putting that I completely lost interest.
id love to see some watch dogs e3 build

Someday hopefully. The issue being it was likely running on a PC, which is less likely to show up for collectors unfortunately.

Damn, the lurk is real haha.
Glad you decided to post, it's always nice to have some insight into these things.

I think I registered years ago for the Stargate GMOD stuff.
Update: he's found an even MORE early build.

Yep, the earlier build is neat. Of course, I have another one inbetween these two builds, but that will come later
I love old builds of games. STALKER has a bunch out there that are always fun to explore.
I believe there were a handful of builds released by the STALKER devs as well. Of course, that was after a bunch of leaks, but it's the thought that counts!
I'll just toss this here since you guys appreciated the Ghost Recon videos.
Bonk: Brink of Extinction was to be Bonks' revival, instead it seems to have been a quite literal extinction for the series :(

I really dig your channel, subscribed.
Keep it up man! Videos like this are amazing, archiving games that almost were.
Ah this brings me back to when I was archiving old pre relase Half-Life 2 stuff.
Always great to see people doing this sorta shit. Keep it up
Thanks everyone. I remember when all that Halflife 2 stuff leaked, it was leak season with Doom 3 and everything else.
My newest video dives a bit more into an e3 build that has been floating around for quite some time now, but more so in regards to changes that were made following e3 with Matt Groening's input into the Simpsons: Road Rage.

really interesting to see how Matt changed the development of the game, thanks
Here's another prototype video, showing an early version of Silent Hill Origins before it was basically redone. Concept art and all that.

Origins has such a strange history, I am kinda surprised that it even came out
The game was originally schedule for a Fall 2006 release, which was impossible. There was no way that was going to happen, Im not sure what they thought when they agreed to it to be honest. Even with the 2007 release, they had to retool everything and get it done by then. It was a crazy project from what Ive seen.
