Instantly knew from the thumbnail it was gonna be a Thunderf00t video LOL
Why doesn't someone just create a Thunderfoot megathread so these dumb videos don't have to keep getting their own threads.
This video was already posted a couple of days ago... http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1382139
Why doesn't someone just create a Thunderfoot megathread so these dumb videos don't have to keep getting their own threads.
Or just not post his dumb videos at all Or OR make a joint T-foot/Amazing Atheist megathread for ultimate circlejerking
Thats a thick neck.
It wouldn't be a Facepunch thread if there could be a real discussion about the points of the video instead of everyone being too scared to go against the flow. [editline]6th April 2014[/editline] Acting as if a 'feminist' movement can not be criticized is scary as fuck, too bad that's exactly how some users here actually think.

Didn't know this was already posted, sorry.

If he took a random person who did something dumb then he would be taking people off of tumblr or something, not people who are featured in the news and whatnot. [editline]6th April 2014[/editline]
Please do point out one.
How's about 10 seconds ago when MaxOfS2D said that anytime an "MRA" criticizes feminism/a feminist that whoever they are criticizing is not actually a legitimate feminist (a legitimate feminist is defined as anyone who agrees with MaxOfS2D)
How's about 10 seconds ago when MaxOfS2D said that anytime an "MRA" criticizes feminism/a feminist that whoever they are criticizing is not actually a legitimate feminist (a legitimate feminist is defined as anyone who agrees with MaxOfS2D)
He is saying its a trait of MRA's to go after completely fringe elements and lunatics which have no real political power or influence and little bearing on any actual feminist movement.

You can't disqualify an entire movement's arguments and/or position by pointing out idiotic activists and saying "look how dumb they are". It's not "counter-productive" or anything, it's just non-argument. It's nothing at all. Not like TF or anyone else doesn't have the right to post their videos, everybody should be able to, but it's still a waste of time.
He is saying its a trait of MRA's to go after completely fringe elements and lunatics which have no real political power or influence and little bearing on any actual feminist movement.
This is the same thing actually. TAA and TF don't really call themselves MRAs, but yet when there's need to disqualify the "movement" (which isn't really a movement even) people just point at them. Look how stupid they are. It's kind of goes both ways.

Both of those ladies are important in some fashion, right, and those are the feminists he has made the most videos about/against so they often times aren't just "random feminists".
What about Rebecca Watson and Anita Sarkeesian? Both of those ladies are important in some fashion, right, and those are the feminists he has made the most videos about/against.
... by completely mis-representing their points or showing things completely out of context
... by completely mis-representing their points or showing things completely out of context
You literally can't accept that feminism can be disagreed with using logic and rationality can you? It has to be "mis-representations", "out of context", "not a real feminist", always some stupid excuse to make yourself invulnerable to criticism.
What about Rebecca Watson and Anita Sarkeesian? Both of those ladies are important in some fashion, right, and those are the feminists he has made the most videos about/against.
They're pointed at a lot, but are they really influencial in any way? Don't know much about Watson, but Sarkeesian is not influencial at all as she has nothing to do with theory. When you want to argue with the movement - you argue with their scholars (for the lack of a better word).

Not youtubers who makes videos that hundreds of thousands of people see and are influenced by? [editline]6th April 2014[/editline]
What TAA and Thunderf00t are doing is in absolutely no way "logic and rationality" sorry
I mean it isn't like you're extremely biased or anything
So only scholars can be influential? (terrible analogy but I hope you see what I mean)
So only scholars can be influential? Not youtubers who makes videos that hundreds of thousands of people see and are influenced by?
thunderfoot truly is the Plato of our time
... by completely mis-representing their points or showing things completely out of context
Rebecca Watson is kind of nutty.
other various pseudo-intellectuals and the whole of the Men's Rights activists...it's just taking random person who did something dumb and extrapolating them onto an entire movement
Uhhh... anyways. This cancel Colbert thing really shows how easily alliances between puritanesque conservatives and feminists can form.
This is the same thing actually. It would be kind of like if r/atheism came up with "ARA", I think it would be appropriate to connect the you tuber if he was active in the community.
thunderfoot truly is the Plato of our time
And I guess Sarkeesian can be Tacitus or one of the Greeks or something
Uhhh... anyways. This cancel Colbert thing really shows how easily alliances between puritanesque conservatives and feminists can form.
This isn't even about feminism dude It's not because thunderfoot made a bullshit connection between both that it is suddenly about feminism What happens is that the people behind #cancelcolbert saw the show's tweet completely out of context; and out of context it was painfully unfunny and racist. I can't really blame them for their reaction. In context (within the show) though it was a good satire of another racist organization. Now I have to say I'm not sure why it's still even going on but either way I do not see what the link with feminism is at all
The only reason feminism came up in the TF video seemed to be to show another example of people saying stupid ass shit
Or he is frothing at the mouth for any reason to criticize femenism
The only reason feminism came up in the TF video seemed to be to show another example of people saying stupid shit, like the red haired feminist girl.
You mean the red haired feminist who was targeted because she was rude in a confrontation? (not really because of the content of what she was saying) And then after that received death threats over it and then got her face used as the stereotypical straw feminist by people like TF? That red haired feminist?

That red haired feminist?
That "red haired feminist" cared very little about what they tried to disrupt though. Death threats and all that stuff was uncalled for and extremely stupid move, but I'd say it's pretty nutty to attack events not even because you disagree, but because you want to silence them altogether. That in and of itself warrants negative publicity in my opinion.
