When this game came out it was pretty shitty, but with every update its improved greatly and has become probably the best f2p mmo out there.

I played it when it first came out and apart from the obvious "Trek" angle on everything, it didn't seem to have much going for it. I am really tempted to give it another try now.

If you haven't played since release then pretty much everything in the game has changed and greatly improved with probably 5x the content that was present at launch.
I come back for a go every "Season" The Romulan one was really great, now I can finally level up my original Federation Captain and enjoy a shit load of Voyager references with this new season.
Still waiting on a Cardassian centric Season though.
Defiantly my favorite MMO, and this season looks like its just gonna get better.

Pretty much this, and the Free to Play model isn't terrible, either
Good enough that I actually bought a virtual space ship (The Odyssey) The interior is awesome, the exterior is better, and chocked full of elite fleet weapons. It makes bad things go away
Ground combat is still boring and almost completely unchanged since launch. I wish they'd revamp it
I got it soon after it went ftp and it was boring and complicated, but this brought me back.
I've put quite a few hours into this game and bought nearly nothing. Hit 50 a few months ago and have been kinda just slacking off at the Dyson Sphere.
I don't really understand the trading and crafting stuff, I just blow shit up.
Still brilliant fun and tends to fill in answers to questions about alot of things, like what most everyone is doing since the end of each's respective series. It's nice to have a "where are they now?" fill-in.
I'm gonna play now, I wanna see whats new as of late...
a bit of a bump but i'd just like to say that wow they have definitely made a lot of changes to the games. It's incredibly enjoyable and the free-to-play model is fantastic. almost all the ships you can buy are just alternate versions you get through playing the game. the other stuff you can buy, like clothes, are totally extra. The points you buy can also be ground out of the game but it's a tedious thing, but that's expected. The wouldn't make that easy to get or else no one would buy credits.
I really enjoy this game and even though im not a massive star trek fan, it's really immersed me into the world and lore of it and really makes me want to go watch some star trek.
A+ game, go play it.

Then watch The Next Generation and watch one of the best shows ever. Then watch Deep Space 9. Then kinda gloss through Voyager. Then you're done, because there is no such things as Star Trek Enterprise.

Hey! Voyager is my Jam! You take that back!

"I don't like a show, so nobody else should watch it" Ever think that some people might actually like the show?
Is ground combat still the same? I remember they improved it a bit over how it was intentionally, but I still found to be the weakest part of the game.

ground combat is terrible until you get overpowered weapons and level your crew. the ground missions take up way too much of the game though. as in it should be like, 2 or 3 missions. Because why the fuck do I, as a privileged captain of high rank, have to get down on the ground and risk my neck? i have THOUSANDS of soldiers on my ship, they can go fucking do it.

I absolutely cherished all of star trek, even the movies despite being 'shit'
why all the Enterprise hate?

Also trying to be 'edgy' like that bio-decontamination gel scene in one of the first episodes. I don't need that in my star trek.
The theme song was a fantastic song as it's own that encompassed the Star Trek philosophy rather well, but as a theme song , bleh what were they thinking. It has to be orchestrated.
There was a mainstream Trek fatigue by the early 00's and Enterprise was unfortunately a victim of it, and even worse when it was lifted it resulted in a heretical reboot, but that's just my opinion. I'm happy it's back in the mainstream but the very idea of abandoning 40 years of back story is utterly unforgivable. Even if you lazily try to appease the old guard with an alternate universe tripe plot line, because lets face it if JJ went straight to reboot there would have been a fucking Holy Jihad in the Trekkie camp.
I've played the game but sadly I cannot get attached to the game... maybe I'm put off with it due to the lack of detailed guides to help me level my character and experience a gameplay for newbies.
So uh, for someone whom have never tried this could anyone do a quick break-down of the game?
Still remember the PVP being littered with tactical escorts that just spammed you with dual cannons. Ripping you to shreds while having shields are able to instant regenerate no matter what you hit them with. Oh and the ones that you could deal damage to would dash out of combat, heal quickly and come back in within a second and you couldn't catch them. Did they ever fix that or is PVP like dead now?
Also would love it if carriers were more viable or that they'd nerf the Voth and Undines AOE abilities a little instead of it just being a fuck you move that they'll spam every time you spawn a single fucking fighter.

PVP is active among the elite of the game, the Goons are very good at it but the vast majority of people only play for PVE which is what the game is designed around.

Watch Season 4, you might change your mind.

I thought the enitire show (minus an episode here and there) was great. I don't understand why people think its so bad.

If I were to list the seasons worst to best I wouldn't have to change the order the aired in :v:
Yeah, all the seasons have good episodes, but Season 4 IMO most of the episodes were amazing.
