Tl;dw Triple A is cancer, Battlefront II and Shadow of War are pay2win and potentially illegal gambling too
and remember, ignoring the problem won't make it go away, just make it root down even harder
The fucked up thing is Battlefront 2 is a solid as shit game, like it's way better than the first one and completely plays differently. Aaand then they add abilities that give you 144% damage increases over regular players
and remember, ignoring the problem won't make it go away, just make it root down even harder
Unfortunately there's honestly almost nothing we can really do as long as people spend money on these things. We can go ape shit for years but as long as it makes them insane cash they really have no reason to do so. Outrage is only bad if it actually damages the company in some way. Just always remember the MW2 boycott image to realize how easily tamed people can be once the game actually comes out and they want to play it.

Fucking hell, not this game too. I was looking forward to Battlefront II. I had already made the jump with a couple of friends to buy this game so we can run some multiplayer matches. Now I gotta tell them that EA's running an illegal gambling ring under the guise of a video game catered to Star Wars fans. And yet GrizzlyBear might be right. Devs for this along with Shadow of War go out of their way to make these incredible followups, only to be buttfucked by publishers to add microtransactions to soil the immersion but people suckered in to the hype will buy them on launch day. That includes me, as I know deep down as soon as the games come out in about three days to a week, I'm gonna buy them once I get my paycheck because I'm kind of a admitted sucker to that hype. And really, I admit, I can give less than a shit because the gameplay's all that matters now because this is a disturbing norm that we may never escape from.
Like, congrats, you fucking ruined a good game. Go fuck yourselves.

Get a grip and drop this fucking game, tell your friends to do it, tell them to tell others. The only way we can win is by being loud enough about this shit when it crops up.
and remember, ignoring the problem won't make it go away, just make it root down even harder
It's times like this when legislation starts sounding like a good idea. I've heard some people saying that legislation is the last thing we want to happen, but with shit like this flying around it smells like it's time to start laying down some ground rules.
Just give the heads up to some slimy journalists who like that games cause violence stuff that video games are encouraging children to gamble. Also hit up a bunch of politicians. Light a fire under their asses. Might hurt the industry as a whole, but this practice needs to die a violent death.

I think we should inform the European Union. Just straight up, nuclear option, get one of biggest organizations in the world to analyze this practise. They have the balls to pull it off, just ask Amazon.

Microtransatctions are out of hand. How did all of this shit happen all at once
lets not give up about this, lets bring this shit to the ground. I dont want pay to win games from here on
Name one successful boycott in the history of videogames
Like, congrats, you fucking ruined a good game. Go fuck yourselves.
Will not be buying either one. [editline]9th October 2017[/editline]
This is one of the few times that the industry just needs to get fucked on. Microtransatctions are out of hand. How did all of this shit happen all at once
It didn't. This started with Mass Effect 3, and took other publishers catching on for it to be endemic. [editline]9th October 2017[/editline]
Giving up is the final step to losing.
Fixed.

It might sound outlandish, but this is a timeline where Scientology is allowed to exist. In a universe where it is possible to profit off of lies, someone can pull it off.
Name one successful boycott in the history of videogames
Shadow of War, over WB's shitstorm of a charity DLC
Shadow of War, over WB's shitstorm of a charity DLC
It's not out yet numbnuts. Every other video game that caused a shit storm prerelease still sold well. I'll bet it outsells the previous title.
not a boycott, just a public outcry name a boycott wherein gamers refused to purchase a popular title because of the business decisions en masse it never happens
I suppose we can do more outcries. If anything if we can't boycott, can be darn sure we can yell our lungs out until they explode and that sound will be picked up by WB and EA (though EA will probably just take 50% off the burn cards in a later update on launch date).
screaming does absolutely nothing in this case, ea knows its bad, warner brothers knows its bad, but they make a metric fuckton off of it and nothing is going to change that money talks, talk itself on the other hand, is worth nearly nothing
Defeatist attitudes like this make my blood boil. There's little if anything to lose from protesting against this and things will just get worse if we don't do something; awareness of this could be spread widely if our voices get heard and you'd never know how the publishers will react in the end. I remember people saying that protesting against Take-Two/Rockstar for C&Ding OpenIV would do nothing, but look at how that turned out.
Unfortunately people who dislike lootboxes and shi-, still buy 'em like sheeps. I still won't buy any games that have lootboxes. Which means I haven't played almost any new Triple A games recent years. Kinda sucks but I don't want to support any devs who put that shit in their games.
Remember when micro transactions were first introduced? The loud minority were like 'but its only cosmetics but it's okay!!!!', then this became the majority. Now micro transactions that are pay2win in a full priced game are here, how long until this suddenly becomes 'the norm' and it's impossible to buy a new game without having to fork extra for full content/stand a chance
Name one successful boycott in the history of videogames
adding to this:

Neither of these games will receive a dime or time from me; whatever anyone else chooses to do isn't even my business, much less concern.
voicing your opinion about lootboxes and p2w aspects =/= boycotting an entire game
it doesn't even matter if you boycott because you're the extreme minority compared to the amount of people who actually buy the games (and most dont even visit places like reddit or w/e where they'd be informed) nor would they care. Not to mention a majority of the money people make from lootboxes comes from the 5-10% of whales.
Take an interest in games for reasons other than marketing. Most of the time, AAA games aren't actually better than indies, they're just marketed way more. So go find games that you enjoy that aren't made by companies looking to fuck you over and then play those. Honestly there are so many fantastic games i want to play these days that i don't have time for most of them, and none of them have this micro-transaction shit, if i see a game has it my brain just turns off the interest in it. I dont understand you if you're having to "fight to resist" buying shitty AAA games that want to exploit you when there's so much good stuff out there.
I just do my part by not buying those boxes or their games. I'm not convinced by Battlefront 2 anyways. Sad reality is still that big whales (how they are often called in p2w MMOs) offset hundred if not thousands of people that do not buy any or keep it in small quantities. Making yourself feel great and powerful is exactly what those boxes trigger and it is working and as TB mentioned they are often people with time and disposable income, so they are not even bothered by it. Ultimatively it is the same target population that freely buys more lives for their Candy Crush game and all that crap, those people are not bothered by the bigger picture and problems that come with them. I really hope it makes the rounds more and not more people try to hop onto that shit. I can live with the way Overwatch does boxes, while still debatable with only cosmetics and the events it is now in a good position where duplicates are rarer, and you can earn plenty of boxes weekly, I never felt any urge to buy any cosmetic boxes. Although I have to admit I once spend way to much money on actual RNG boxes, that was in Mass Effect 3. I was really in love with the MP though and it is Coop, so it was pretty fun.
