In which the popular YouTuber tears a game to shreds (starting from about 13:43 onwards). Does the game deserve it? You decide. Don't even bother reading the comments section.
I used to kinda enjoy this guys videos, but the more I watch them the more I feel like he's a complete tool. He really should stick to playing the more obscure/unpopular game, when he does one of a AAA title it always feels like he's just doing it to get views.
He didn't really tear it to shreds though. He complained about not being able to block, so he looked at the controls in the guide but there was no indication of a block button. There actually is a way to block (by pressing X and Square at the same time I think) but it didn't tell him how so can you really blame him for that? He also complained that the spaces to fight in were too small, and by looking at the video that seemed to be true. Other than those and the parts where the game doesnt let you slice shit up, he didn't seem to hate it, more or less just think sections where he wasnt slicing shit up to be rather "meh." But I agree with kapin_krunch that he should stay the fuck away from AAA titles, he makes himself out to be an extremely ignorant and whiny child.
Holy hell that commentary was fucking awful. SWA SWA SWA SHUT THE FUCK UP. It's like something you would see on retsupray. Like this is minecraft tier commentary. I have no idea how people could watch this for 30 minutes and enjoy it.
One problem I always have with Nerd3 is that he's not very clever about much at all. He even tells us as much in basically every video he does, but when he does a AAA game he gets overly preachy and goes from funny stupid to just plain fucking stupid, apparently forgetting that he's supposedly a slightly dumb but nonetheless fun-loving guy and not a super-serious reviewer who's studied game theory and design at lengths enough to seriously judge these games on such a minute level. If you're gonna listen to anyone on this shit, he is not the guy you want to hear. And it annoys me, because his videos on obscure or indie games are usually pretty good, even if he tends to suck them off a bit much. I tend to just skip his AAA videos because they all basically amount to "waah wah wah I wish this game used pixel art and chiptunes like my indie games that take super old Atari games and change them marginally so they don't have to come up with new ideas, nobody even likes AAA games anyway (insert the word poop or variations thereof)!"
He didn't really tear it to shreds though.
Maybe not, but he certainly gave it more flak than I would've thought. I was particularly surprised when he called it a button-masher; any game is a button-masher if you make it.
I like how he is terrible at it and then blames it on a parry system that he can't use well. Also, it's not really a surprise that you can button-mash through the first level of a video game.
His videos are kinda boring now. Too long and kinda repetetive.
His videos are kinda boring now. Too long and kinda repetetive.
I think if he edited them down more they'd be much better, like his old Mirror's Edge video

Sometimes he makes enjoyable videos. This was most certainly not one of those times.

Wow this guy is just completely fucking clueless on how to play. I've never even heard of Nerd3 until now and this definitely didn't leave a good impression.

You perform a parry at the wrong time. Done.
i dont get how one can be that bad at a videogame
Infact, at 10:30, he DOES block.
i dont really like how some people name their subscribers, its a bit demeaning, (what he did in the beginning)
He's certainly gotten worse as he got more subscribers. His old videos, like the Overgrowth one, had him talking about the technical aspects of the game, which I found interesting. I said this before, as others have, and I'll say it again. He finds one tiny problem with a AAA game and run on for 5 minutes about how much the game sucks because of it, yet ejaculates over any indie game, even if it sucks. I like his videos, but that's the one thing I've always hated about him. [editline]28th February 2013[/editline] He's also a lot more sporadic and high-pitched than he used to be, but I guess that's what the general youtube audience is enjoying now (ehemempewdiepiecoughcough)

Its like these people have never played metal gear. [editline]28th February 2013[/editline] Im alright if you dont like the game. But all the others had ridiculous shit in them and nobody complains about that.

the other guy's AltCtrlDel avatar i get it now. i get it. there is a well of exploitable stupidity that both nerd cubed and buckley tap into and if we cross reference the fan bases we may find it and use it. or destroy it i dunno
I like his regular 'Nerd³ Plays' series on more interesting/indie games (e.g. Omegalodon, The Ship, Super Hexagon, Overgrowth, etc.) because we get a new game each time so it remains fresh and interesting (Free Three Games Friday is also good for this). His 'Permadeath', 'InTheLittleCubed' and 'Nerd³ Completes' series all feel the same, as if he's drawing out the length of one game for easy videos. Still kind of on the fence about 'Father and Son-Days'; I dislike it because of the same reason I dislike 'Permadeath' but his dad can be very funny at times, he also edits this series properly so we don't have to watch all the boring parts.
He's extremely obnoxious, has to comment on everything happening and does it so childishly. Also being bad is not a reason to hate on a game also being ignorant to not trying to find out controls or learning how to play the game is stupid too. Plus he's playing on normal and Rising is actually an easy game as parrying and slash dodge is extremely forgiving and overpowered. Hard to see why anyone would hate Rising. Solid hack n slash that while it doesn't really innovate or bring anything new but is actually fun to play. At 14:30 ish with the first encounter with the 3 cyborgs he does a perfect parry then later complains about not being able to block against the Gekkos. So he's either doing it on purpose or genuinely retarded.
