I covered Faith Or Forgiveness by The Ghost Inside. Just discovered this band last week, they have some great tunes. They aren't very well known, so if you've never heard of them, they sound a lot like Parkway Drive..very hardcore-influenced. I really recommend them if you like this style of music, I'm so happy I discovered them.
Also using a new tone, so love to hear some feedback on how it sounds. Any feedback is welcome, so yeah, knock yourself out if you hate the music and are determined to flame me :\
The screaming isn't very good at all although I like the guitar, nicely done.
The screaming actually makes the song sound kinda dumb.
The melodic attributes of the song are quite good, just...heavy metal screaming like that just don't mix with it.
Yeah I understand completely. It's hard to listen to a band like this if you aren't used to the screaming. The melodic attributes make this band stand out from the standard hardcore/metalcore band though, at least for me. Not to mention, the lyrics are really great (I know they are hard to make out).
pretty much all heavy metal sucks, do not confuse heavy metal with music
I don't think you can play...
1.) Last time i checked you had to push down on the frets to make diff tones
2.) If you are playing lower the music volume, or turn it off
3.) Metal is not music

Oh right, I gotta pick songs that everyone loves, cause making covers totally shouldn't be about what I think is fun to play! As long as everyone else likes it, right? Please explain why it was a shitty cover, I'd love to here what you have to say.

Never heard of them, but looking on youtube..they seem like a band I could see myself liking. I'll check them out.. and we'll see what happens =)

They're melodic hardcore. It's just part of the style.

"Metal" in terms of Musical Theory is still Music. Please don't be an ignorant fool and think that just because a band contains vocals that you are not accustomed to or guitar work makes them not musical.
As for the OPs video, I think you did a good job and please don't listen to these idiots who obviously don't know what they are talking about and can't get over the fact that someone is playing a genre of MUSIC that they don't like.
What's with the haters? I thought it was pretty good, didn't mind the 'screaming' at all (although I do listen to a bit of heavy stuff, so I'm used to it)! Keep it up OP!

Haha I recognize I hold my pick a bit funny. I usually bridge my hand when I play (like I do at the alternate picking parts), but I can't do it while I downpick..and most of this song is downpicking. But it doesn't really matter if it gets the job done. At least I don't use 3 fingers to hold the pick anymore.
And strumming like that doesn't make me look like an idiot, it's hard to strum when you use a thick pick. The motion of my hand is from playing live, where I would use my whole arm to strum.
Just wondering, would any of you guys be interested in seeing some Parkway Drive covers from their new album? The album leaked two days ago and I'm really tempted to start tabbing songs from it and making covers.

I'm thinking about doing Smoke 'em if you got 'em to warm up, and then going straight to the new album. I forgot how tough their songs can be to play =(
