Yeah, the NES Conan is the one he reviewed, and he pointed out all of the same flaws (down/up to jump/ down+A nonsense, weird way to kill the boss, etc.). Granted, they're the biggest and most easily noticed flaws, so it's understandable that they'd both pick the same things to point out.
