The building tools look pretty powerful, can't wait to try this one out.
i'm gonna build a giant purple dildo that shoots rocket out of the tip
Looks cool, does it feature destruction?
Talk about an overdramatic trailer, Jesus christ.
Looks like a more complicated version of Robocraft.
I'll look into this.
Reminds me of Rigidchips, if the vehicles are scriptable in this I think I may have to get it.
looks fun. seems to be a lot like gmod contraption building, except less limited.
though it's gotta have multiplayer to be good
Building looks neat, but with nothing to do besides drive and fly it seems like it would get old.
I wonder how long it'll be before someone comes up with a new word that's more early-game-development than "PRE-alpha"
Remember when Beta was the shit?
It's pre-alpha as in "not available to public yet plus missing tons of features", once the parts are all fixed it'll move to alpha and available to the public.
After that the more interesting things will start happening, aka better part management, more and more parts, better profile support, and eventually multiplayer if it's a requested feature.
We decided to release the trailer cause we're excited about it :D
If anyone's interested, message me anytime, I'll be happy to be of service :v:

That's exactly my point.
I'm not exactly happy with how game developers are getting away with all this "Pre-something" and "Alpha"-bullshit that we have today. I'm not saying your stuff is bad, i haven't even tried it yet.
You wouldn't go to a burger shop, paying for the whole thing, and then only getting the patty, because it was early in development and you'd get it faster, but without most of it's features, now would you?
That's why i'm having a bit of a difficult time supporting all these "pre-alpha" games.

That's true, our alpha will be cheaper then the fully released game though, I don't like the idea of people paying full price for something if they don't have all the features yet
All we want out of this is for some general feedback and a couple of sales, so we can take all the legal actions to make it legit.
Plus it's pretty difficult to get any decent feedback after awhile,
since all the testers have played through version and version.. They don't really see the bad things anymore.
That's the reason behind it at least, I totally understand and support your opinion about it though.
Personally I just don't like the idea of a game being released completely and it being utter shit cause they didn't have decent feedback about some parts ya'know?
That's why i'm having a bit of a difficult time supporting all these "pre-alpha" games.
Well there is nothing wrong with pre-alpha as it is a stage you as a consumer cannot pay for anything you are just viewing a concept for a game. If they let you buy the game it is literally just standard pre-ordering at that point. What you have a problem with is what comes after that being the actual alpha or beta the parts where you spend money and then play during the duration of development.
It is an interesting argument as on one hand it is better than pre-ordering as you are putting down money and immediately getting something in return but on the other hand you are paying for an incomplete product. You could say let people buy into alphas and betas as you yourself can wait for the games release and decide the buy then why have a hard time supporting a game that offers an alpha. But you could also say that letting everyone hand their money over so soon causes developers to not have to work as hard as they already have the money and the end result will be a worse product.
Personally I am alright with alphas and betas I love seeing the development cycle of games and being a part of it. But everyone has their own opinion.

I doubt we will really get more parts as the three we have now seem to suit the industry well and I don't see what a fourth part of development could fill.
Pre-alpha - Footage of a concept of a game to try to garner some interest to see if there is a market.
Alpha - The concept is there and now the main features are being added.
Beta - The features are in and the game is now just being polished off.
Back when beta was the shit it was really just alpha and beta just crammed into one stage so it was harder to tell what stage of development the game was in. Was the game feature complete or just being polished off nobody could tell without doing loads of research.
I love the concept of this but I think I'd get tired of it way too quick to justify purchasing if it lacked multiplayer/destruction - even if it was really simple destruction with low player count.
For my thoughts on concept so fare it is kind of cool but there really isn't much game to be had. At least with most vehicle building games such as kerbal space program their is a game to be had afterwards other than just "Hey now I can fly this around aimlessly"
The building and driving/flying looks cool but there really isn't a game here more just a vehicle editor and test world. I think you need to create a concept for an actual game to go with your fancy editor here.
This just kind of feels more like a mod you would see in a game like GMOD than an actual game in itself despite its complexity of vehicle design.

We're working on that and try to get it done asap, we just don't want to release the multiplayer filled with bugs and crashes.
So we're not showing it yet, we already implemented some weapons into the pre-alpha so people can experiment with that,
as the destruction will not be based on collision (It'd be too easy to just make a gigantic vehicle that could auto-demolish everything in it's path) it'd be based on the weapon system.
And for the playercount, let's just say that it's up for debate at the moment.

You'll be able to make your own 'missions' and goals,
that's kind of the point.
There aren't any plain missions you have to do, just collect bolts to get better parts,
explore and make your own goals and accomplish them by building and tuning your vehicles to the fullest.
It's not designed for a big audience, it just started as a game we want. Nothing more tbh,
after we realised how many of our friends enjoy playing it and messing around with it we thought I'd be a good idea to invest more and more time into it.
It just sort-of evolved into this system.
Plus a lot will most likely to change anyways depending on player feedback.

This dildo enough? It flies beautifully

This looks like my kinda jam. We better be able to make rotorcraft
There needs to be a gta style game with this level of customization. Also this looks like Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts combined with Rust and lots of purple dildo rockets.
This looks like my kinda jam. We better be able to make rotorcraft
Ohyes, Rotorcraft is included and pretty customizable
I'll be making a generic thread sometimes later today most likely and link in this post, just so people can ask questions about it in that thread, have a giant collection of answers.
This is the right thread for that, I'd recommend against making another

Alright! Thanks for the suggestion.
Oh and about the rotors, we have some helicopter rotors and general airplane rotors, and hovercraft rotors. which you can all use for basically all purposes, they wont be unlocked from the start though. It'll take some bolts before you can use them

Wait I'm an idiot, I thought this was in GGD already, yeah, put it there.
i can see that the metal frame of the vehicle is really customizable. Are you guys going to add more customizable things, like wings or body parts?
I love how simple and wacky it tries to make it self. I can imagine having a lot of fun building things which can either drive or fly. Or both.

EDIT: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1391546&p=44738347#post44738347 Here's the new thread, I will still be following this one, but it'd rather have members ask questions in the dedicated thread (:
i can see that the metal frame of the vehicle is really customizable. Are you guys going to add more customizable things, like wings or body parts?
We're not planning on adding body parts, since you can build the frame in every possible way you want, it's more fun and more customizable in my opinion, if enough people request it though, we'll look into it (:

Welp, you can just build anything you want, I've got a working walker (which sure is difficult enough) while we didn't add any parts to do so, you just have so much freedom, We'll be releasing a demo soon enough where people can play around with it :D You'll be able to see it for yourself instead of me "trying to sell the awesomeness"
What an awesome trailer; installing the demo now. Can't wait.
