Can't embed Nat Geo videos [url]http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/mars/videos/spacex-makes-history/[/url] Some really interesting behind the scenes videos.
Mirrored [vid]https://www.helifreak.club/SpaceX%20Makes%20History-HfY8rzv4oMSw.mp4[/vid] [editline]14th December 2016[/editline] Only three things get me emotional, dead animals, characters dying in stories, and rockets. I watched it land live, I watched it again a few days later when the high res footage came out, and it still gets to me.
Fuck yeah 2016
I love how it's like, "Right, we've done this, time to go to Mars." Like, damn, slow down, let's go to the Moon again for now so we know we can do that one for sure.

We went there nearly half a century ago.
Yeah, nearly 50 years ago, that's not like last month or anything, technology has changed, going to the Moon, landing, then taking off and returning would be a good measure of what it takes to make that trip by today's standards, going off what it took nearly 50 years ago is stupid.
The most crucial thing to figure out is how to protect ourselves from radiation in space and on mars otherwise it would be pointless.

It took 25 minutes of working of working as an intern at SpaceX to know I want to work there the rest of my life. I still get very emotional when I see these videos.

Mars can be colonized and eventually terraformed, has no sentimental value to human civilization yet, and a few inklings of progress toward it now could ensure humanity survives the next couple centuries. There's no guarantee if global warming is going to fuck us up as fast as some say, or even at all, but the threat could simply wipe us off the face of earth if politics continues to get in the way of figuring shit the fuck out. I don't want to think we're headed toward a worst case scenario here, but there's no reason NOT to send some of our best and brightest to this new frontier. In all cases it's the start of a new era in human history [editline]e[/editline] great job on the newly made thread bumping the topic and making me think this thread was just as newish
I was mostly just thinking about Helium-3 to be honest, but since Fusion Energy isn't something we're really looking at right now, it doesn't seem feasible, even if Fusion Energy is what I personally think would be a step forward for the human race, I'm not a science type though so I could be talking about of my ass really, I don't know the price points for any of this shit, I just really want Fusion Energy to be a thing.
