The bridge of the song reminded me a bit of mix between the Offspring's "Pay The Man" and "Come Out and Play".
It feels like there's a lot of alt rock/punk 90's bands with releases this year, 3 of them all releasing albums on October 7th. (Sum 41, NOFX, and Green Day)
Edit- Apparently Rick Astley is also releasing an album that day, too. Probably gonna be the punkest shit out there. :cool:

The main riff uses most of the same chords as the bridge of St. Jimmy, so that's probably why.

To be fair, Green Day wasn't always that generic. Dookie is still a consistently solid album. If you really want generic, try Good Charlotte.

It's definitely not as powerful as some other stuff I've heard recently, but it's still a quite enjoyable piece of music and a surprise coming from Green Day.

I actually like all the Green Day albums. Even 21st Century Break Down. I thought the album had a really good structure and story going through out it. Looking forward to this one!
