If you're feeling up for a Star Wars Marathon of some sort before The Force Awakens, but can'st stand the though of countless scenes of boring senate meetings and Jar-Jar stepping in alien shit, I highly recommend this.

i've never watched 1-3, are they even worth it at all? i can't say i'm a huge fan of the movies anyway
Just watch this and then the despecialized original trilogy before Force Awakens.
[editline]13th December 2015[/editline]
Or you could just pretend that the prequels don't exist.
Exactly what I'm doing. The despecialized versions are a work of wonders.
Of course. Though in my situation, I grew up with the prequels as well, I don't despise them as much as most do.
Watched this awhile back, its a nice concise edit. I'd never consider replacing the PT with this if someone hadn't seen them before(its part of the trials of becoming a SW fan IMO) but I think it does well enough if you've already seen the prequels.
They made the ending absolutely perfect, but I don't know if I like how much of Obi-Wan they cut out, although that's just because he's my favourite part of the prequels so it probably ends up being for the better.

Well if you love movies in general, I wouldn't really recommend sitting through these movies as they aren't really good movies. For Star Wars fans they can be FUN, but most fans agree that they aren't GOOD movies, especially compared to the original trilogy.

Yeah I feel the same, I just watched this now to see if I could recommend a friend (who have never seen SW) to watch this instead of the whole PT, but I don't feel like this is enough to watch the first time around.
Ewan McGregor is fantastic imo, definitely one of the highlights of the PT, along with Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine) and the overall soundtrack.

seems like the version i watched of the older movies are the ones with cgi in them, might watch the despecialized ones :v:
looks like a real pain in the ass to download though, shit
all the editing in the world couldn't save this failed abortion

The CGI in the specialized version is atrocious. I had no trouble downloading.

do it, 99% of all the people my age who talk about Star Wars haven't even seen the actual movies, just bastardized versions of the original 3. It's why I think this whole cultural and commercial appreciation for star wars now is bullshit because it's based on years of complete butchering.
Almost all of the practical effects in the original trilogy stand the test of time, all the of added CGI garbage from the 90s looks like complete diarrhea now and is COMPLETELY pointless to the film.
All that added garbage ruins just how ahead of it's time A New Hope was. It's such a clean, concise film with such great special effects for 1977. It's why it's still utterly charming to this day, it remains one of the most likable movies of all time. It's simple and fun, while being groundbreaking at the same time.

Agreed. It's quite amazing how strong the effects of the OT stands today, ESPECIALLY compared to the PT.

from some shitty upload website with split files, needing to install jdownloader again? yeah nah i'm good

I'd take the enhanced version of the Death Star attack over the original any day.
Like honestly, I'd take a lot of what's in the Special Editions over the original theatrical versions any day. While there are certainly some exceptions (looking at you Jedi Rocks), on the whole I prefer many of the small changes made.
Though Greedo still never should have shot.

Have you seriously never heard of torrenting?

You could check a certain Bay
if 1 through 3 weren't made into kids movies they'd probably be alright.
3 took a step in the right direction but was far too late.
Didn't Topher Grace make The Phantom Edit?

To me, Revenge of the Sith is pretty good.

Ah yes, the kid movies with family friendly topics such as: senate politics, assassination, decapitation and my favourite of them all, genocide.
Didn't Topher Grace make The Phantom Edit?
Nah, but he made something extremely similar, Star Wars: Episode III.5: The Editor Strikes Back. I think A Phantom Edit is directly inspired by that but it was never released to the public and the trailers been taken down.
There's also THE Phantom Edit which is just an edit of Ep I.
skip to 1:25:50 for the best part

OH, my bad, got the title wrong.
holy fuck how did some of these green screen scenes pass
tech was not this bad during then, this is just shoddy work
Didn't Topher Grace make The Phantom Edit?
Yeah, but his is on physical film and was only shown in private screenings for friends and family. The version in this thread is a recreation based on descriptions that people wrote down while watching Grace's edit.
ive seen this. it still has all the terrible romance between ANGRY ANAKINNN and padme but it's not bad if you wanna get a not insufferable glimpse of the prequels
the only saving grace of 1-3 is ewan mcgregor and the darth maul fight
at least the ending wasn't atrocious though
Tbh, I still love the prequels, they're part of what makes Star Wars, well, Star Wars. Yeah they're flawed but goddamn I'd be lying if I said they bring me no joy.

Couldn't have said it better.
You could check a certain Bay
Its not up there though. You have to register at certain sites to get the links for the Despecialized Editions

Except they are. Few seeders though, and each movies is 7 gigs.
Then you might as well not watch any Star Wars film.
Why? The OT stands on its own.
Watching this edit, it definitely makes sense to basically cut TPM out, but the lines and the characters are still bad, bland and boring.
Edit: after watching about an hour, I'll conclude this really isn't any better than the prequels, it's basically just shorter. Which is of course good thing, if you for some reason need to watch the prequels. Otherwise why waste time on this at all.
