This is a good look at the series as a whole, but I don't know how I feel about the video itself. There are some awkward pauses, repeated words and kinda strange sounding line readings that make it sound like he wrote a solid script, but then did all the audio in one take and then didn't go back to edit or anything.
noah hasn't learnt that since he started. he always does everything in one take more or less. dude literally lives in a Hippie van with his girlfriend too so eh, this is the best youre gonna get. i find him to be an okay guy but sometimes he can drag too long about subjects that really aren't that complex or deep.
I just like the fact that he doesn't mystify his videos like so many people do these days. Dude has a 30 second song intro, a 1 minute synopsis of what he will cover on the topic and then hours of pure analytics.
Compared to many other video essayists; it's technical.

usually the point of analysis is finding meaning in things that might not have had meaning in the first place
if we were only meant to talk about things in terms of how they were intended to be read then a lot of folks would be out of a job
but yeah Noah has some serious problems when it comes to production. It's impressive that he can play all these games and write put out multi-hour videos at such a rate and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact his editing process seems to be done in one sitting.
I'd say he should improve but I honestly don't have that big of a problem with it. I like his amateur qualities, it kinda feels like a half-baked conversation about video games that you have with a kid you met in your Early US Lit college class.

Pretty much.
His videos feel distinctly different from all the chill-hop video essays with silky visuals and calm delivery. I don't take his analysis of things super seriously and a lot of times he's downright disagreeable but I think he usually has pretty interesting things to say, his fascination with the american frontier and wilderness literature is also fairly unique.
