YT link for anyone interested. This is looking really good, the world and unit details and animations look great.
Looked pretty mediocre again The scenery should be impressive but honestly I just sort of take it for granted, this would look bizarre on a grassy plain. It's not really in your face as its not presenting unique gameplay - the battlefield is still a square patch of dirt for all intents and purposes, same as it was last time. The Dwarf units look pretty good (armoured beards!) but the Gyrocopters seemed underwhelming and I got the distinct impression they were trying to shy away from showing close up combat. The only thing in the video that really made me blink was when the giant came up against the Dwarf Slayers and actually swung and killed dwarfs with what looked like automatic splash attacks, instead of just kill animations for individuals. That's a big step up from the Blackfire pass footage. The Dwarf flamethrowers seem pretty good as well I guess
I mean it is pre-alpha so i'm not expecting more then just two armies can collide and somewhat kill each other.
As someone who never got into warhammer, what's the difference between warhammer and warhammer 40k? When I first heard they were making a warhammer total war, I expects some space marines. Is it like warhammer 40k is like later in the timeline?

Fantasy takes place on an alternate Earth which shares some similarities with regular Earth but also plays host to the standard fantasy races: Elves, Dwarves, Orks, Undead, etc. Both 40k and Fantasy share the Chaos Gods, that is to say the existential enemies living in the Warp. Basically 40k takes place on a galactic scale in the far future, while Fantasy takes place on one planet with all the races crammed in, during what is essentially the late Renaissance. But that's just the highly condensed version.
the late Reconnaissance
should've sent those scouts earlier me thinks
should've sent those scouts earlier me thinks
I was going to comment on that but it was probably his browser attempting to autocorrect a much less glaring typo.
If only it were 40k. I want to send entire regiments of guardsmen to their deaths, not just a few squads!

It's a shame Warhammer is now nothing at all like this, meaning this is set in a non-existent setting and the lore, setting and backstory here isn't relevant anymore. This game would have been a great chance to get people interested in it but instead the Warhammer setting was changed completely, and not in a good way from what I've seen.

So the casual audience is somewhat discouraged about gaining any interest in the universe. That and the tabletop genre is always considered the ultimate in "nerd-dom" so many may consider it to be below them. It would also be somewhat difficult to sell to the other total war fans who may have never heard of Warhammer before, forcing them to bone up on the lore just to understand where the game came from and reading loads of background info just to follow a more narrative game. I feel that games about Warhammer are always gonna seem rather shallow to the die hard fans because the developers want the game to sell to the general consumers as well.

They basically got rid of both the WHF setting and the tabletop game itself and replaced them with something that is only vaguely like how things were before. They dropped over a decade of lore and completely changed how the tabletop game plays, so it's now far smaller scale, more casual and has some very stupid rules (E.g. bonuses for actually dancing and shouting things). People are probably going to be disappointed when they find what's in this game is no longer very relevant and the replacement isn't really an improvement, from what I've seen. Anyone who does get interested in Warhammer because of this game is going to find the setting is now completely different from how it's portrayed here. Based on what i've read (although i might have it wrong as i haven't read much about it), in the new setting the majority of the characters, locations, technology, factions etc are either completely different or gone. Even the planet itself isn't the same now, instead there are multiple realms/dimensions or something like that. It's not good, they should have just kept it how it was as that was the iconic WHF setting.
Not all that much into Warhammer, but Age of Sigmar looks fucking stupid, I know a lot of people who are into WHF and think it's stupid. GW really fucked up imo.
"Victory secured with minor losses"
This is why we need a 40k Supreme Commander.

I'd recommend the What If The Emperor Had A Text-to-Speech Device series, it's really funny while also being pretty informative on lore.

The bonuses for doing things for real are some of the dumbest things I've seen in it - dancing, shouting things, getting your opponent to smile or laugh, even a bonus for having a bigger moustache than your opponent. I really wish they'd kept the previous setting and rules. Total War: Warhammer and the other video games being made look great but it's very disappointing knowing that's not what things are like anymore. What it was before was far more interesting than AoS. It would have been alright as a separate game, but as a complete replacement. It's good they aren't making video games based on it, though. 12:55 - generals are immortal in general (heh) or is it only that specific dwarven leader (and if so, is that because of lore or gameplay)? Making generals immortal would be a pretty stupid move in my opinion, risking your greatest general in battle should be a tough decision, not one you can't in any conceivable way be punished for.

I imagine they will still get wounded and have to recover if you lose a battle.
I imagine they will still get wounded and have to recover if you lose a battle.
Same thing happened with Attila and Napoleon in their games. Assassins would only wound them and keep them out of the game for a short while, instead you had to defeat them multiple times in battle to kill them.
