man, they just tear into it.
what bothers me about this review is that at no point does it really sound like a 4.5. if we went on a "5 is average" scale, then maybe it'd be reasonable, but major gaming critics clearly work on a "7.5 is average" scale for whatever reason. the 4.5 score is clearly just to get attention.

It sounded to me like he hated it but was just trying to sound professional.

Ok so i understand that in this day and age, a game like RE1 or 2 just wont work in the market, but RE4 was fucking divine, why couldn't they go back to something like that? This looks like garbage.
now to wait for another gamespot review (possibly even from the same person) to praise the exact same things they criticized here, or for this writer to get fired for being the least bit honest about his opinion on a AAA game. In all seriousness, though, the RE franchise really has lost any sense of direction and only really hit its peak with RE4. Which is a shame, because they could have done a lot with the franchise after the success of 4, but instead decided to go down the "cinematic experience" route that doesn't fit at all with the games. Hopefully Capcom will smarten up soon enough and make another game as good as RE4, if not better, but I'm not holding my breath.

He mostly talked about the quicktime events. The complaint seems...nonsensical to me. Yeah, those might break the immersion of the game, but most western shooters have the same issue and yet they have higher scores than RE6. It deserves a 7 at most, just like NG3 should.

Whatever he says reflects the whole gaming press' and mainstream gamer opinion. Even if they all have to adjust. Re has been sucking salty chocolate balls since 3. I can't even fathom why they still make more games...
Oh man, my friend went to a midnight release of this.
Totally not regretting my amazon purchase at all right now. :L
If the entire game was like Leon's story mode, I'd probably buy it.
Oh christ, that ending was gruesome.

There's a fair amount of critical disgust when it comes to RE6. Game informer, games radar, gametrailers, and ign may have all given the game decent marks, but each of those sites are famously bought when it comes to reviews.
Spam melee to win, why does this sound so familiar?!
I love how at the end of it Leon just stand there as his partner is chopped to death.
I love how at the end of it Leon just stand there as his partner is chopped to death.
That scene honestly made me laugh out loud. It just looked so bad with the "Longer-than-it-needs-to-be" stick waggling sequence, and Leon in the background just shooting the monster, not affecting anything.

The shit either instantly cuts off with an awkward jolt in some games or does nothing like in this game. And even more so, during long streams of button inputs that you're doing, usually the other player is.. Literally doing nothing, they have to sit there and watch you play the game. I thought QTEs in a co-op game for RE5 was a bad idea, but they went really overboard and didn't even alter it to work in the proper context of co-op.
the demo for this game was awful and boring it doesn't take a genius to see how awful this game is, especially if you had a hands-on with this game before release thank god we have RE4 to fall back on and ask, "where did you go wrong, capcom?"
I don't see where all the hate is coming from. I played the RE6 demo and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It's definitely a hell of a lot better than RE5 was.

Besides can you seriously say that bit at the end wasn't hilariously bad?

Besides can you seriously say that bit at the end wasn't hilariously bad?
I will admit the end part was pretty bad. But the reviewer seems to be hating on the game because of QTEs. It's as if he's never played RE4 and RE5 (which were both equally filled with a million QTEs). His definition of QTE is a button prompt when it pops up aka doing a melee move on an exposed enemy which you did all the time in RE4 and RE5. What RE6 failed to do with the QTE is put both players in danger, instead (like the ending) you have 1 player free to do whatever he wants and the other player in danger unable to be saved except saving themself. Oh and don't get me wrong. I think the game is bad. It looked good but after playing the demo it definitely didn't live up to my expectations.
You can do a barrel roll. Japan learned fucking nothing from Starfox 64. [editline]October 2012[/editline] Unless I'm a dork and it's an actual barrel roll instead of an aileron roll.
