How he describes Nukem being politically incorrect in the 90s and how it wasn't hassle then, made me almost drop a tear. We truly live in a weird time where everything you say offends someone.
Such a classic game. Played since as little kid and I'm still replaying once in a while.

Things haven't changed at all, they're the exact same, only difference is that it's easier to be heard now.
What about all the middle aged mums who accused it of being sexist and pornographic?
Maybe its just that its easier nowadays to get your voice heard. Of course the game was controversial among elder people. Today its just much more big of a deal. Its just that people get blames for stupid things so easily. Though humor and satire is kind of supposed to rise discussion about the things they cover. Also one thing may be that i was pretty young and didnt care or didnt have to care about these kind of things...

Nowadays most shitflinging at devs will just be unfair criticism from inside video game and SJ sub-cultures but back then games were demonized by a significant portion of the population and were legitimately in danger of becoming regulated or even possibly outlawed by the government.

We truly live in a weird time where everything you say offends someone.
There's never been a time when that wasn't true, the only reason you think this is because there are a million and one different ways to put your opinion out in public for people to read. [editline]18th July 2016[/editline] And like cdr248 said, we're better than we used to be. Street Fighter was on ESPN the other night, nobody took video games remotely seriously enough for that to be a thing in Duke's day. It was still a time where if you played games past your mid teens, you were a nerd playing with kid's toys.

Most people on this forum were too young (or not even born) to witness any form of media outrage at the time. Games like Postal and GTA started some controversy back then, albeit GTA was (at first) fabricated controversy.

I'm not too familiar with all of that soccer-mom controversy of the 90's/early 2000's.
